Woman OH Woman. Review on Women Today

Women Today: My chosen topic for my 50th review.

This category comes under the magazine section, but atleast I have not heard or seen a Magazine by that name.( If anyone knows about it please do let me know I would like to read ir) But I take this opportunity to pen down a few thoughts on WOMAN and pay my tributes to WOMANHOOD.

Woman, the most wanted in every aspect of life, and yet many a times referred to as the weaker sex.

Right from what we know, EVE being the first woman on earth. So says history. And thus began life with ADAM. The role of a woman is never limited, though their status and respect have varied with each prevailing time. But history has it that even some women in those times, made their mark and presence felt to the society. For e.g.; Rani Laxmibai, Ahilyabai Holkar, Razia Sultan,Hellen Keller, Cleopatra, Marie Curie, etc to name a few.

In India of what we know, the women folk were very protected & had to do all the household work and be behind the house walls. At one time they were not even allowed to go to school or any kind of institutions that imparted learning and knowledge. But now the times have changed completely and women of today have made their own place in society and are eager to learn much more. They find it a pride to work for their family and many a times is seen that they are working shoulder to shoulder with the men folk, to meet financial ends.

Earlier when a proposal came from a prospective Groom, the parents would inquire regarding the girl's interest at household work and her hobbies. But now, it's straight to the point ''WE NEED A WORKING GIRL FOR OUR SON''. As the times are getting expensive. But all this again is co-related to the Parampara (family tradition) as is many a times referred to in serials and movies. To-day most of the serials too that are aired on different channels in our country are mostly women based. People criticize all the time about these serials being very lengthy and too much of a hotchpotch, going into generations, but if one looks at the TV charts these serials are toppers and a lot of the Tele awards also being given to most of the characters of these serials like ''SAAS BHI KABHI BAHU THI'', ''KASUTI ZINDAGI KII'', ''GHAR GHAR KI KAHANI'', ''KUSUM'', ''TUM BIN JAOO KAHAN'', ''JISH DESH MEIN NIKLA HOGA CHAND''. The number of legends that the idiot box (TV) has created like ''TULSI'', ''PARVATI'', ''PRERNA''(all women) it has become a household names and topics of discussion in trains, buses, radio channels that it becomes difficult not to mention it here too.

But now the women have learnt to have their way, they manage the family, their work, have their own social circle and are going places in society.

To add to the greatness of women, I have some very important names to mention without whom this article of mine may be incomplete Kalpana Chawla (first Indian woman astronaut), Lata Mangshkar/ Asha Bhosale (Singers without whom Music is never complete), Bachchendri Pal (First woman to climb Mount Everest), Indra Gandhi (first woman prime minister of India), Persis Khambata (first Indian woman to win an international Beauty pageant), Madhubala( actress-Beauty of the woman, even remembered today) and the list goes endless but the most divine of them all MOTHER TERESSA.

It is said that it is the woman of the house who is solely responsible for the upbringing of the child in terms of manners , values in life and other traits & for bringing up a good human being. (Father believe to be the bread earner)

I think the message here I would like to give is that ''WOMAN''

''SHE IS THE MOTHER, THE MAKER, THE LEADER''

The most beautiful creation of GOD to Mankind.
