The show start moves into a game of chess and Farhan, a cop and his wife the lovely Aditi Roy Hydari, and Amitabh Bachhan, a chess teacher who lost his entire family to accidents and make believe accidents.

The cop loses his daughter to a shoot- out, and revenge and aftermath with a wife who holds him responsible, ending up playing chess with a man who has lost his legs is something that is a start to a fantastic thriller.(And the part about the wife holding him responsible is universal).

And If you think Amitabh steals the show, Farhan is steals it from him. The story is taut and the screenplay is good in parts. In comes a politician and he does a good job of playing a good man, and he is the new poster boy in Kashmir. In the end he dies, but thank God, we did not ban the film cos it hurts the sentiments of people of the valley!

The movie has a lot of suddens.

Suddenly you see Neil Mukesh in a menacing role and then he is gone. And then John Abraham turns up as a gun totting SP(never heard of someone like that) and he engages in firing et al. Given that he was given such a small role poor chap decides to hold his rifle really well. Utter professionalism. Small role but convincing, yeah. Aditi Roy is a real eye candy. She could be a contender for the silent movie part. Spoke some 5 words in all. Super delivery though. I was maha impressed. Back to the story.

In the end the game of chess plays itself out as life does. Only, in chess, you get another chance. The dialogues are good. One scene where there are some vodka shot glasses with chess pieces and when the piece is downed, you drink up. Nice concept . AB says, Vodka peen eke badd, Pandit maha Pandit ban jata hai. And ‘Is khel mein harnewale ki bhi jeet hoti hai’ – gets played over. Songs are ok. Last song by AB adnd FA is really good tho.

Some parts are a bit out of synch, and the end could have been a lot slicker. Much like explaining a joke that spoils it all. Nevertheless, it is a movie that is worth a watch. The movie has a few flaws like when the house is fully surrounded and there is heavy hiring, the villains manage to get a clear get away area. On the whole a great thriller. Farhan is a great actor and I thought he did a better job than AB.
