I hope you find this useful. I visited their shop to get a Nokia 3500. Initially, I had visited their website to find the price of this phone (Rs.6230 was quoted by the website) I was attended to by a salesman after waiting for some time. I asked him the price and he quoted a rate of Rs 6500/-.
When I mentioned the website price he claimed that does not include the shipping details. Since I was in a hurry, I did not have the time to cross check this. He asked me my payment mode and when I mentioned credit card he quotes an extra 1.5%. I told him I was not interested and prepared to walk out. "Just a minute saar" and he goes inside, comes out after 30 second and says "No 1.5% saar, only 6500". Makes you feel as if he is doing a great thing. To be very frank, no shop charges 1.5% service charge nowadays.
I finalized it and the bill arrived. I asked them where the VAT is and their reply was "It is inclusive of the amount". My bad that I was in a hurry and I accepted that too. After buying it, got on the web later to find that they had ripped Rs 75/- off from me. The actual price would come to Rs 6416/-
Lessons learnt -
1) I should have taken the print out of the web page with the price break up before going there.
2) I should have insisted on the break up price - Price + VAT.
More than that I think Wavetel should have been straight in their dealings. There is no point in offering discounts and then ripping off the customer on that discount.
I would recommend fellow users to exercise caution before buying from here.
