Its not the normal kind of a Superhero movie which you must have last seen like Spider Man, Batman, Iron Man and the Superman. Based on a comic which was a limited edition published by DC Comics with the same name "Watchmen" is a movie which you can only enjoy if you have read the series of the comics.Whats different here is that it would be very confusing and is not like other Super Hero movies where any one without the knowledge of the movie could enjoy.
Directed by Zack Snyder (the acclaimed director of the movie 300) Watchmen is a slow movie with minimal action scenes which is very uncommon in the genre of superhero movies. The movie starts with a scene where the "Comedian" one of the members of Watchmen is being attacked and thrown out of his apartment who apparently dies.
The fight scene is well choreographed and pictured in slow motion. What is painful is that for the rest of 2 hours you will miss the action sequences and most of the time it will be flash backs and memories of the acts carried out by the Watchmen. As the story proceeds each member of the group who are retired now narrate their times with The Comedian and this is how the whole group is shown in the film. What is disturbing is the character of Dr. Manhattan who is a scientist working for U.S government who due to an accident gets powers like that of god.
The character is shown as omnipresent and omnipotent and is glowing blue in appearance. It is tough to watch so on the screen which at times seems absurd in the movie.The film also has certain scenes of intimacy which were never seen before in such movies. One must be quite informative about the times of cold war and the tension of nuclear heads between the United States and Russia in the Nixon period. The film would mostly be a boring one to watch if you consider it to be one of the normal super hero movies.Finally this one is a movie which can be very well avoided and you can save your money and mind.
