This is another big which was recommended by a friend who also recommended me Anna Karenina. It is very big. I was not wishing to read but I read this book. It gives very much details. Sometimes I felt that it is boring but if I look at the overall aspect of the book I find it a good one to read. It is a story of how people live during the time of war.
It starts with many local are present at a party. Pierre is illegitimate son of a rich count and Andrew is intelligent son of a
retired commander. Nathasa Rostov is also introduced.
Napoleon is conquering Europe and Russian alongwith Austrain are fighting against it. When Andrew who is in war returns and finds that his wife is dying in childbirth. Pierre is married to a girl who cheats on him. Nicholas son of Rostov saves his family financially by his gambling debts. Nathasa is attracted to Andrew and Nicholas denies to marry Sonya and marries to a rich heiress.
French Army attacks and Russian defeat them. Andrew goes in the war. Nathasa is attracted to another man but Andrew returns and tells him the history of that man. Andrew is wounded in the war and Rostov leaves taking with Him. He dies by forgiving Nathasa. Nicholas denies to marry Mary for his promise. But later marries. Pierre is disillusioned and decides to assassinate Napoleon and is captured by French arm. Petya little Rostov who joined army is killed by French and French leaves after their defeat at another place. Russian army chases them rescue Pierre.
He returns and declare his love towards Nathasa and marries her. Nicholas marries Mary. And they live happily.
In this way story ends. It starts in 1805 and ends in 1813.
It is the story which is full of glimpses which resemble to common man.
