A Fully-Automatic Videocon Washing Machine 5.5kg [modelKonserv 5500] was purchased by us on 16 July 2006.


The machine was finally installed by the engineers fromVideocon after10/15 days of repeated phone calls at their service centres.


The problems started from the very first day itself!


The machine would make odd noises, stop in the middle of a washing cycle and generally played every bit the part of a fancy washing machine except wash clothes.


The machine scored high on looks and had the following features advertised on paper :


5.5 kg Capacity


Germ Free Tub


4 water selection levels


Digital Sense Logic


Transparent Lid


8 Wash Programs


Memory Backup


Auto Balancing


Auto Error Detection


Auto Soak


Spin Fountain


In reality, the machine was definitely 5.5kg capacity and the lid was transparent too, but the rest turned out to be pure technical jargon.


The machine never washed/dried clothes and the 8 Wash Programscouldn't even deliver a single wash.

Now,Videocon is a highly respected multinational brand [as per adverts.] so themachine should have been repaired promptly, but that was not the case either!


After repeatedly calling up their service centres and visiting the store from wherethe purchase was made, the service engineers arrived who couldn’t fix the problem either. They continued dilly-dallying and finally after a month found out that the machine had a manufacturing defect!!!!!!!!!!!


The tub of the machine had a component missing. The senior officials from the engineering department inspected the machine and finally approved that the machine would be exchanged for another new model.


They took away the machine[29 Sept’06], promised quick delivery of a new machine,but promises according to Videocon’s strategy are meant to be broken!


Endless phone calls are made each day and apparently the new machine hasn’t arrived yet from their factory. The machine has a 1-year warranty period and already 3 months have gone by from the date of purchase, but the new machine has not been delivered.


The officials can never be contacted and e-mails sent at :contact@videoconmail.comhas not been answered either.
