This review is fresh from the my recent memories of an overnight stay at Veerabhoomi resorts located near Kushalnagar in Kodagu District of Karnataka. It is set in a back drop of two small hillocks which sets the ambience of this place. There are around 25 cottages spread across giving ample space between the cottages. With sufficient parking space, cars can be accomodated without much of a problem along the drive way. The centre portion is the dining area and a theater stage for cultural events. The stage is a semi-circular one and not the stereo type rectangular one. There is a childrens play area with good play equipments. A large anchor shaped swing is certainly enjoyable even for adults. One can enjoy a good swim, which is complimentry for guests, but paid one for outsiders. By afternoon time, the pool water temperature gets heated by the morning sun and is very comfortable to laze around.
Being not too deep it suits even people who do not know swimming. The lawns are well maintained and vast enough to accomodate quite a few people, without having to feel very cramped. The highlight of this place is their cultural program in the evening for about 2 hours. Starts promptly at 7:00pm and winds up at 9:00pm. With a mix of folk songs, folk dances and humour the program is quite entertaining. It attracts good crowd from other towns and resorts. Food can be ordered and one can watch the show while having dinner. It is interesting to know that the show is performed by the staff of this resort.
The politeness and friendliness of the people here adds to the comfort and I must give full marks to the management in maintaining the morale of these people. Food is moderately good. One can go treking up the hillock with the help of the resort guides. Places of interest are Dubare elephant camp, Nisargadama, Tibetian Golden temple and a near by dam.
