Veer - A Monumental Disappointment.

The much awaited movie of the year & the dream project of Salman Khan has hit the silver screen.Salman khan has not left no stone unturned in promoting this film with full involvement.

Despite having the facility of special effects, the film boasts of using thousands of real horses and other animals for authenticity & it is also the first Bollywood film to be shot in the premises of Buckingham Palace.

Veer an epic love story of a warrior in the battle field. It’s about a brave warrior winning the heart of the princess. It was some twenty years ago, that Salman Khan first conceived the idea of an epic warrior’s story that finally made as film directed by Anil Sharma.

The movie is set in the backdrop of pre-independence days. Veer written by Salman Khan, is epic movie set in the nineteenth century, when the Britishers were ruling India. When all most all the kings bow down to the British, but the Pindaris refused to surrender. Pindaris fought till their last breath to save their mother land.

Veer a revenge tale of the Pindhari’s against the British & Raja of Madhavgarh. Veer (Salman Khan) is a brave Pindari soldier. He had the courage to fight off the British army. Not only does he stand up against the British Empire, but also against his own people, who had the problems with his leadership.

The movie has great stars, magnificent sets, brilliant camera works, daring action scenes, but it’s the pathetic screenplay, poor direction & a story that’s more than just inspired by major Hollywood & Bollywood films that shoot Veer down.

But unfortunately Veer a movie about a brave warrior, neither it evokes any patriotism, nor does the love story create any magic. The movie is so lengthy that one is mentally exhausted by the time this marathon movie finally reaches its climax.

The story fail to connect the first half with the latter half and don't lend it real life credibility, the director fails in his job of editing it tightly. The story goes well before the interval. In the second half, the hero goes to London, meets the heroine and also falls in love within minutes. It looks unreal.

The story is very confusing & most of the characters that simply seemed to be tacked on at the last minute to fill up an expansive set. Further there are no interesting sub plots in the movie.

I was pondering the question of who would take over for the great action actors like Dharamender. Salman khan is definitely a strong contender. He is the only reason to watch the movie. He is dashing and dynamic. But sadly Salman can’t alone substitute for the abundant ambiguities in the film. The chemistry between Salman Khan and Mithun is the highlight of the movie.

Debutante Zarine Khan looks gorgeious as princess Yoshadhara, but still raw as far as acting is concerned. Fortunately for her, doesn't have too much acting or even dancing to do.

Mithun Chakraborty as Prithiv Sing is the surprise package of the movie. He is in great form and delivers yet another brilliant performance after Guru. Sohail Khan is outright irritating. His buffoonery continues. He repeats the same act he has been doing since several years. He has adopted a style for himself and his old postures and facial expression don't go well.
