For those of you who expect a super comedy flick when you see a team of Mohanlal and Sreenivaasan, you may be surprised. I went to the theater expecting a hilarious movie full of one-liners and the ever-loving interaction between Mohanlal and Sreenivaasan. Prior movies such as Nadodikaatu, Akkare Akkare Akkare, and others had me convinced. Then the movie started and I found that it was actually a serious movie. Talk about a shock.

The basic rundown of the film is one Mr. Udhayan who is a scriptwriter who develops this super script. However his friend Rajappan, played by Sreenivaasan, is dying to become a superstar in Malayalam films. Rajappan steals Udhayan's script and he becomes a star. And then...the rest you watch.

Mohanlal performs excellently in his role as Udhayan. His character is serious and his focus strictly lays in the direction of cinema scriptwriting and directing. However his life changes and he is forced to sway from that world into a different role. Considering Vamanapuram Bus Route and other flops such as Chathurangam, you will be quite pleased to see Mohanlal return strong. Don't expect him to do his patented charinje nadappu and ''enthaa preshnam'' kind of talk if your going to see this movie! SERIOUS.

The true star of the cinema is Sreenivaasan however. How does he get the will to further humiliate himself on cinema!?? This ego-free soul is exactly what Malayalam cinema was missing for a while. Watching him dance to Karale Ente Karalinte and Penne en Penne is worthy enough of two tickets!! Boy am I glad he is back in the business. Once Rajappan becomes the superstar, he cares only about his fame and how to maintain it. Does he ever realize the mistakes he has done? And how? Watch it and you find out!

Other Characters:

Jagathy Sreekumar: once I saw him on screen I laffed out loud and my mother couldn't stop for 2 minutes!! He is unbelievable as usual although you may perhaps get bored of him by the end of the movie....perhaps.

Salim Kumar: For the first time EVAH he gets a role where he isn't screaming like a mad monkey. He is also serious!! Ya its hard to believe I know but I think he performed well in this role. Much better than his weak comical performance as Michael Jackson in Chathikaathe CHandhu.

Meena: Cute perhaps...but imagine if Shobana was in this role. Don't expect much but her trying to act cute and cry occasionally. No wonder she is on the second track in this film.

Cinematography and Music:

The movie was beautifully shot, with great sets and locations. Cinematography is usually a key element in a good movie and the camera shots in this film were solid.

The songs in the movie make this film more of a hit than it should have been. Very catchy songs such as Penne En Penne and Parayaathe Ariyaathe draw occasional movie-goers to watch this movie. Even if the comedy was on a lower-level, the comedy in the songs made up for it well. Sreenivaasan!!

Final Word:

Go watch this movie!! You do not miss a movie with the two best actors in Malayalam movies ok!!!
