Among all music directors of Bollywood, RD Burman is unique.Though he was sometimes'inspired', his sense of music was THE greatest.His preludes and interludes were classics in themselves.He combined the best of western and indian music in his work.My fav RD numbers are:
1.O Haseena Zulfon wali:This number from Teesri Manzil is an unique combo of east and west.
2.Yeh jo mohabbat hai:From Kati Patang, the beats and melody are to die for.
3.Yeh Ladka hai Allah:This number from Hum kisise kum nahin is very romantic very young in feel.
4.Ek Main Aur Ek tu:From Khel Khel main, this is a song full of mischief and vulnerabilty.
5.Chura Liya:A very lovey-dovey number from Yadon Ki baraat that reminds us of'Belgium?'
6.Mile Jo Kadi kadi:This song from Kasme Vade is full of hope and expectation.
7.Kahna Hai:The song from Padosan has a very western opera feel to it.
8.Ek ladki ko dekha:From 1942, this is a great tune for great words.
9.Katra Katra Milti Hai:This song from Ijazat is romantic and yet has a very Rekha touch to it.Wonder if she wrote the song?
10.Goom Hain Kisike:From Rampur ka Laxman, this is a song that has a very interesting structure and great melody.
11.Yeh Shaam mastani:A western sounding song from Kati patang.
12.Koi Haseena jab rooth:The film is sholay and this is a naughty vivacious song.
13.Mehbooba Mehbooba:Again from Sholay, it looked like Jalal Aga on screen, but RD himself sang it.
14.Maine Dil Diya:A very romantic, youthful number from Zameen Aasman.
15.Dilbar Mere:From Satte Pe Satta, it sounds like Amitabh romancing Hema.
16.Kanchi Re Kanchi Re:This is a very nepali sounding romantic song from Hare rama hare krishna.
17.Dilbar dil se:RD Saab was inspired by a nepali folk song for this song of entreaty from Caravan.
18.Piya Tu:The baap of all cabarets.From Caravan it has a very western sound to indian https://lyrics.
19.Rain beet jaye:A classical song sung during evening time and seems suitable too.The film is Amar Prem.
20.Dekha Na Haye:This is a fun song in a very entertaining film Bombay to goa.
