My favorites. Review on Twenty Best Songs of Lata Mangeshkar

Hi I am from Kerala. I am a big fan of Lataji's. When you have 10000s of songs to chooce from it is nearly impossible to list 20! These are what I alwyas love to listen to.

1. Satyam sivam sundaram(Film: Satyam sivam sundaram)

I feel like bowing to her when I hear the superbly rounded up voice with the passion as well as the great composition of laxmikant-Pyarelal duo.

1. Ja re Ja re Ut ja re panchi

What a composition. Salil da takes us to another world. With the magical touch of Lataji, it becomes one of my all time most favorites.

1. Tu jahan jahan chalega.(Mera saaya)

I can't express how much I love it. Madanmohan sab and Lataji have joined together to create wonders. The lyrics also works the best here.

1. Na jane kyom.( Choti si baat)

It has been what, 30 yrs. still the lines take me back to the old days. This song had always been in my lips every now and then. Salil da at his best. and so is Gulzarji.

1. Teri aankhom ke siva duniya mein(Chirag)

Friends, the song that always haunts you for a long everytime you hear. What a voice countrol! What lyrics!

1. Aye dil-E- nadaan( Razia Sultan)

Another haunting hit. you will feel like floating on the waves created by this great composition and great rendering as the song flows elegantly.

1. O Basanti.( Jis desh mein Ganga abhthi hai)

So passionate. takes me years back to my Medical college years, when I used to study and rest listening to these songs. We weep when Lataji sings the lines."Hum jo hare dil ki."

1. Chand phir nikla

Another of my all time favorite. Like to listen with all lights off, no noise or disturbance.

1. Un ko ye shikayat hai ki hum.

A classy poetry! can't imagine a better way of singing it.

1. Mein tulsi tere aangan ki.(Mein tulsi tere aangan ki)

No need to explain! A self explanatory classic song

1. Aap kyon roye.

When Lataji sings the lines having questions like this, well it is difficult not to feel for the character.

1. Bedardi balma

One of Shankar Jaikishen's super hits. Stirs your soul

1. Aaj phir jeene ki tamanna.

just listen to the ups and downs in the song as it creates the mesmerizing effect of the girls bubbling enthusiasm.

1. Who bhooli dastan

A haunting melody composed by Madan mohan sab

1. khilte hai gul yahan.

S. D Burman sab has made several songs that remain in the heart for a long long time. I love this song and with Rakhi at ther sweetest best this in among my dearest.

1. Aja re pardesi.( Madhumati)

Salil da's early composition and still with un matched quality. Lataji's young and delicious voice.

1. Aap ki nazron ne samjha.

Another lovely song which is rich in lyrics, music and performance

1. Solan baras ki bali umar.( Ek dujje ke liye)

A relatively serious voice of Lataji. LK-PL's superb composition. Another gem that stays for ever.

1. Rangeela re.

I used to love this song even whle I was in the primary school. Only recently have I seen the scene in the movie which I found disappointing. But the song is so great and vibrant.

1. Kabhi kabhi mere dil mein.(Kabhi kabhi)

I have several songs of Lataji's to list here like the songs in Pakeeza, Jana tha hum se door, Tera jana, Mera dil ye pukare aaja, Ek pyar ka nagma hai, Kahin deep jale kahin dil, naina barse rim jhim rim jhim, Akele hai chale aao, Jil mil sitaron ka, Lag ja gale, Raina beeti jaye, dil hoon hoon kare etc. But this song must be listed because this was one song I heard Lataji sing live on stage. I tell you what, it was un believable. My daughter also loves this song and she says she likes it more when Lataji sings it than Mukeshji.
