Lata Mangeshkar is still so young, so vibrant and so full of vigour(I mean her music). She is my favourite - there is not a day I spend without listening to some of her songs. Its hard to say which song I like the most, for there are many.
Twenty songs which I like the most are the following:
Mere Naina Sawan Bhadon(film:Mehbooba, actress: HemaMalini)
The song really takes one to his past life - in imagination! No one could have done justice to this song except her.
Yeh Zindagi usiki hai(film:Anarkali, actress:Beena Roy).
I like this song for its meaning- perhaps a sordid reflection of life.
Bahon me chale aao(film: Anamika, actress:Jaya Baduri)
Jaya looked gorgeous in this song. Lataji has a kind of masti in her voice in this song.
Na koi Umang hai(film:Kati Patang, actrees:Asha Parekh)
This song is epitomie of hopelessness- So many in Life would find solace after listening it - thinking there are so many like them. Lataji has rendered it impeccably.
Dil hun hun kare(film: Rudaali, actress:Dimple Kapadia)
This is one is a rural melody - the real song of the heart
Aaja re prdesi(film:Madhumati, actress: Vaijayanti Mala)
The desire and eagerness are very explicitly brought out in this song through Lata Mangeskar's voice.
Teri Bindiyan re(film:Abhiman, actress: Jaya Baduri)
If I say why I like this song - I am doing injustice to it.
Tere mere beech mein(film: Ek Dhuje Keliye, actress:Rati)
Sheer Depth and Emotion -Anyone listening to this song would feel it.
Aaj phir jeene ki tamanaa hai(film:Guide, actress:Wahida Rehman)
A kind of morbid playfulness in Lata's voice is what I liked about this song.
Ajeeb Daastan yeh(film:Dil Apna aur Preet parayi, actress: Meena Kumari)
I like this song for its philosophy too.
Tere Bina Zindagi mein Koyi(film:Aandhi, actress:Suchitra Sen)
Here again the blesedness of togetherness is explicit - Her voice tells us that the character has missed something
Agar Tum Na Hote(film:Agar Tum Na Hote, actress:Rekha)
Deeply sad and sentimental
Raina Beeti Jayee(film:Amar Prem, actress: Sharmila Tagore)
I like it for its classical tone
Loote koi Man ka Nagar(film: Abhimaan, actress:Jaya Baduri)
The pauses in the song make it special. - listen!
Neela Aasman Khogayaa(film:Silsila, actress:Rekha)
The tune of this song is perfect in keeping with mood.
Dekha ek Kaab to ye(film:Silsila, Actress:Rekha)
Hey I just Love this Song
Aa Laut ke aaja mere meet(film: RaniRoopmati, actress: Nirupa Roy)
Melody and the urge of two souls, the pangs for waiting for the beloved -so beautiful in Lata's Voice.
Yeh Raat Kushnaseeb hai(film:Aaina, actress:Amrita Patel)
I liked it for it meaning
Are re re yeh kya hua(film: Dil to Pagal Hai, actress: Madhuri Dixit)
How Vibrant is her voice after all these years!- this song is very pleasent to listen to.
Hum Aapke Hai Kaun(Hum Apke Hain Kaun(title song)
Mystery! cahracterises it
Aaja re o mere dil bar aaja(Noorie, Actress: Poonam dillon)
Passionate Love is described.
The songs I have mentioned here are solos of Lata mangeshkar except three or four -I enjoy her solo more. These songs are my favourites because they are more melodious(with good meaning too)- the words are very clear when lataji sings. Even some of the films here are have depth as much as the songs. I consider these songs as the Best of Lata Mangeshkar.
