The team behind the highly successful film,''Murder'',is back, this time, with a ''CLEAN'' entertainer,''Tumsa Nahin Dekha''. We have seen such love stories, umpteen times, where a rich guy falls in love with a poor girl, but cannot marry her,and so ''Tumsa Nahin Dekha'', is also not a different movie. Actually,''aisa picture humne bahut baar dekha'' (actually,we have seen such films many times), but there is still something refreshing about this film. Of course, watching Dia Mirza, in skimpy outfits is something new, but there is something more refreshing to this film, other than her exposing.

THE FILM:

Mahesh Bhatt`s ''Tumsa Nahin Dekha'',directed by Anurag Bose, stars Emraan Hashmi,Dia Mirza,Anupam Kher,Surekha Sikri and Sharat Saxena. Mahesh Bhatt`s production house has been churning out some really bold films, recently, but this time, with their latest flick, they have made a sweet and a simple love story.By making such a film in such times, when sex is selling, will the film work?

THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:

1.Daksh(Emraan Hashmi):Daksh is the son of a very rich person and since his childhood he has been living a life completely free of tension and filled with luxuries. He drinks wine, goes to night clubs and enjoys his life. An ideal life, isn`t it?But something goes wrong. He falls in love with a girl whom he cannot marry. Emraan Hashmi, does an excellent job,as the spoilt brat,Daksh. This film shows his further growth as an actor. He is brilliant in the scene, where Jiya`s brother is going to commit suicide and he stops him from doing so, but sometimes,he tends to overact, a bit. Still, never mind, such mistakes can be avoided, very easily.

2.Jiya(Dia Mirza):Jiya is unlike,Daksh,a poor girl, who takes care of her mentally challenged, brother. She earns money by dancing at night bars.Dia Mirza, gives a good performance, surprisingly. She is definitely improving herself.Previously,in ''Tehzeeb'', too she did a wonderful job and this time too, she does justice to her role. She also looks gorgeous and like Esha Deol, even she has started exposing her body, through this movie.Still, she looks more cute than sexy. This is a good effort by her and let`s hope that she keeps on improving herself with her forthcoming releases.

Anupam Kher as Daksh`s uncle, is too good!We are watching him in such a role, after such a long time, and thank god,he hasn`t changed at all. He still the same,''good old Anupam Kher''. Surekha Sikri as Daksh`s grandmother looks funny, but I think that her character is too exaggerated and the words she utters out of her mouth are very crude. The actor who plays Jiya`s sister,is fantastic, while others lend adequate support.

THE STORY:

''It took just a moment....and their lives changed forever''-that`s the one liner for this film.Daksh,is a complete spoilt brat of a rich father, for whom having money, travelling in limozines, etc.is no big deal. He leads a life full of pleasure. On a rainy day,he sees a girl, called Jiya standing at a bus stop. He finds the girl too beautiful and goes starightly towards her. What he does is no ordianry thing. He kisses the girl and that annoys the girl,Jiya,no end. Well,Daksh`s father tells Daksh that he will have to marry Anahita, the daughter of his close friend.Daksh doesn`t like Anahita at all,and nor is he interested in her but his father tells Daksh, that if he refuses to get married to Anahita,he will be disowned from his father`s properties. Daksh doesn`t want to lose all the property, and so he agrees to get married to Anahita.

One day, when Daksh goes to a shop with his uncle,he finds Jiya there, again.Jiya at that time is shoplifting, for which she gets caught, but Daksh helps her out.Jiya is a bar dancer/stripper who lives with her mentally challenged brother. She earns by dancing in a bar for her and her brother`s survival. One night,Daksh asks Jiya for going out with him,so she agrees to go with him,but only if she is paid Rs.3000.Well,they both go out, together and start understanding each other. The next day, Jiya`s brother is going to commit suicide, and Daksh stops Jiya`s brother from doing so.That is when Jiya and Daksh fall in love, with each other.

Daksh promises Jiya, that he will marry her and will come to her house, the next day for telling this thing to her brother, but Daksh`s grandmother and father don`t allow him to do so.While poor Jiya is waiting for Daksh,he doesn`t come to meet her and calls her up,by telling her that he can`t marry her. Both the lovers are heart-broken. Daksh gives Jiya a Rs.5 crore chequ to Jiya and tells her that though,he will marry Anahita, but he will still live with her. Jiya doesn`t like the idea and feels betrayed. What will happen next?Is there any chance of Daksh and Jiya getting married to each other. To get the answer of this question watch ''Tumsa Nahin Dekha''

THE WORK OF THE CREW:

Anurag Bose`s direction is good and he has managed to make an outdated story a fresh one. There are some entertaining and gripping moments,in the film. The scene where Daksh, kisses Jiya infront of everyone at the bus stop, has a lot of shock value and is an interesting scene. The scene where Jiya is shoplifting is a very nice one and the scene where Jiya`s brother tries to commit suicide is also a brilliant one,but there are some faults, there too.The second half starts on a promising note, but fails to entertain you. After Daksh calls up Jiya and tells her that he can`t marry her,the viewers expect the film to get more gripping and interesting, but then what they get is some irritating moments. After that,it gets so annoying watching Daksh being drunk and doing strange things.Like, the scene where Daksh takes out Anahita, for a dinner,is a terribly boring and irritating scene, but, then the film gets better again, afterwards.

Screenplay is half-baked.Anupam Kher`s role seems to be very confusing. You just can`t understand, what is he there for,but he makes it up with a good performance. Also,Daksh`s character looks, throughout,a very lost one.He decides to get married with Anahita but also thinks of living with Jiya. What a confused character!

Script is fine. The story of the film is a very simple one and there are some well-written sequences,in the film, but then some sequences in the second half, seem to be completely forced. The part when Anupam Kher gets seriously ill shouldn`t have had been there,as the film could`ve easily done without that track. That makes the story drag, unnecessarily.

Editing is crisp, and the film moves at a good pace.If there wouldn`t have been some off-track sequences in the script (like Ekta Kapoor`s,serials),then the film could have not looked as if it is dragged.Well, never mind!

Cinematography is of class, and Dubai has been captured wonderfully on the celluloid.

Nadeem-Shravan`s music is pleasant.''Mujhe Tumse Mohabbat Hai'',is a chartbuster, picturised on a sexy Dia Mirza and Emraan Hashmi,at a dance bar.''Woh Humse Khafa Hain'' is also a good song, which is placed very well,in the movie.Same goes for ''Yeh Dhuaan Dhuaan'',another romantic and tragic song.
