This is a movie, which you can watch it with a date or on a rainy day. I must say that for cynics who dont believe in the craziness of Bollywood, this is not a great movie.

About the movie

Considering the banner (Gulshan Kumar) this movie did do quite well. First of all, don’t watch it in theatre. If you are having a private get together of just want to chill out at home, you could rent this video and watch it at home.

I had seen some of Anubhav Sinha's works in the music videos which he has directed for Sonu Nigam. I was impressed by the technical expertise. This movie has also been handled quite well technically. The direction is pretty clear and crisp. The editing is pretty good.

I liked the musical scores in the movie, though I must admit that there was one to many songs for me. But the songs as a whole have a good tune and relates to the situation in the movie. But they could have reduced the songs.

The cinematography was of Hollywood quality. Very well defined and very easy on the eyes. The choreography was done well and considering the fact that the main cast comprised of newcomers, they did a good job.

The story

The story was similar to an old Rajesh Khanna starrer (remember ''Alla Megh de'' Number) where he kills someone and stays with the family and looks after them and atones for his sin.

The theme is similar but the modelling of the story is somewhat different and there is equal distribution of the main plot and the sub plots.

The story revolves around three boys with their destinies intertwined with the heroine as per the circumstances in the story. Amar(Himanshu) is the hero who is engaged to Priya (Sandali). Amar is killed in a freak road accident by Shekhar(Priyanshu). Shekhar is filled with guilt and goes to Amar's place in Canada to seek forgiveness and gets involved with looking after the family business and makes friends with Priya too in that process. Priya coming out of her grief sees a good person in Shekhar and is impressed by his sincerity.

The family business is not doing well so there enters Abhi who falls in love with Priya and offers to help the company financially. Priya is in a dilemma as to whether she should take help from Abhi.

Whether she is convinced by Abhi or persuaded by her feelings for Shekhar who is still full of his guilty conscience and wants to see Priya happy is something you have to watch in this movie.

The movie does not hanker after sentimentalism like in Yaadein where after every five minutes you see the cast crying over the past happenings. Here the director has tried to maintain a balance between reality and emotions and dreams which donot always come true.

My thoughts

Compared to Yaadein, it is definitely much better and for the debu director it is a step in the right direction. He definitely has scope for improvement and yes I shall wait and watch how his future projects fare.

Dont expect too much from this movie... as this is a debu project for the director and viewing from that angle its a good job done. Meanwhile my friends who have been stung by the Yaadein bug will definitely find this much better movie.

But I shall not stress the fact that you have got to watch this movie. If you have the time and the inclination you can watch this on a rainy day but dont lose sleep over it :):).
