Would sue Travel Guru and Hotel Monarch Ooty

I am planning to file a consumer case against The Monarch Ooty and Travel Guru and if possible also sue them for breach of contract. The way they treated me and my family is simply unbelievable. It is not about bad service or quality of rooms, which can happen, what they did is inhuman, unethical and simply atrocious!


If you book rooms with them after reading this review, then be prepared to spoil your vacation and spend your time on the roads, after paying in full and having a confirmed booking. I had booked two rooms at The Monarch, Ooty from 24th to 26th of January from Travel Guru. However when I tried to check in I was told that there were no rooms available and they wanted me to move into a cheap hotel for the same payment.


They simply refused to honour the booking for which I had paid in full and had written confirmation! When I refused and pushed for the rooms at The Monarch since I had them booked, the manager Mr. Krishnamoorthy and his manager, a bald and fair gentleman with a suit behaved very rudely and unprofessionally and said that I will not get the rooms. They rudely said talk to Travel Guru, we are not responsible!


When I said that I had called them three times to confirm, they asked me to name the person I talked to over the phone. If I cannot name the person, I am lying! I was very rudely asked to take the money and leave since it was Travel Guru's fault and they could not do anything. I realized that I got the reservation at a lesser price because of an offer from Travel Guru and they would have booked guests at more price later and hence dishonoured the reservation. Finally I left after driving for 350 kilometres without lunch for my family at 4 PM. I had my in laws with me, who are senior citizens. They fell sick because we were roaming around in the Ooty in the night cold and I had to take some medical help.


This also puts a huge question mark on booking from sites like Travel Guru. When I called them from the hotel they said they would talk to the hotel and get back but they did not do anything. I tried to get in touch with them after returning to my home city, they said they had the booking confirmed from the hotel end but the hotel refused to honour it so they cannot do anything about it.


They also refused to share the confirmation email from the hotel. The service attitude after the sale was done, was pathetic. We spend a lot of time to check for hotels, take leaves and spend money for our little vacations and breaks. If we cannot trust sites like Travel Guru and they cannot do anything in such situations, then why book with them? As for Hotel Monarch, they need to be taught a lesson and have a serious dip in their bookings so that they do not take customers for granted and spoil people's vacations. I have all the written proofs with me to sue these unethical guys. This can happen to any one of you, so please take this review seriously.
