The Darker Side. Review on Transformers Dark of the Moon Movie

Michael Bay has made some great movies like Bad Boys, The Rock, Pearl Harbor, and Transformers series, and he lived to the expectations here in the 3rd installation as well, although the treatment is so fast that it can give a confused feeling for any new viewer, but a new story is there and not much references to the earlier prequels are required.

It tells the story of a secret been hid under the dark of moon, and the simplified story goes like. As we know that good and bad Transformers species came to earth for their survival after their planet Cybertron was destroyed by fighting within themselves. Good transformers named Autobots was headed by Sentinal Prime (voiced by Leonard Nimoy), and in the end when the bad transformers named Decepticons header by Megatron (voiced by Hugo Weaving) were winning, he was able to left the planet in his spaceship named Arc with his own-developed latest technology called "the Pillars" which when combined can cause teleportation. But his ship crashed into the Moon, on the darker side. This accident was anticipated by US NASA, and they sent Apollo 11 to investigate it, but they didn't find much. Now, in present day, Optimus Prime (the existing leader of Autobots, voiced by Peter Cullen, in Hindi voiced by Akshay Kumar), discover a fuel cell from the Ark in Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant based in Russia, due to which it met disaster. He come to know about this accident on Moon, about which only few scientists know. He went to moon and retrieve few pillars and the body of Sentinal Prime from the crashed ship. He gave life to Sentinal, but there's something more to the story. Sentinal is actually not with them but he already have shaken hands with their enemy Megatron, and who have all the pillars, but he was waited for Optimus since they wanted Sentinal's life which can only be given by Optimus, so now since Sentinal is back to business, he goes to meet Megatron. They have the plan to bring their destroyed planet here to Earth, and will use earth as a slave planet and exploit its resource to rebuild their own planet, and it will be done through Pillars only. Now, Optimus and his team have to stop this alien invasion of Earth.

As always, the movie will be praised for special effects, since that's the section where Hollywood movies always scored. Direction of Michael Bay is good, although it can be better, since the story confused the viewer a bit (Ehren Kruger). All actors are okay in their role like Shia LaBeouf as Sam Witwicky, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as Sam's love interest Carly, John Turturro as Agent Seymour Simmons, Tyrese Gibson as Army-men Robert Epps, Patrick Dempsey as Dylan. Transformers were the ultimate creation, but I can't comment on their voice-overs, since I watched the dubbed version, where Akshay Kumar gave his voice for the Optimus Prime character, and he really did well. The movie is fast paced, although the duration is 155 minutes, and which make the movie confused a bit. 3D effects are not upto mark, so you can watch the movie on normal screen, but yes, watch it on big screen. The movie's plot mixed two historical events with its story - the Apollo 11 Moon mission and the Chernobyl Nuclear Reactor disaster, and woven them well.

I watched it on last Sunday, and I enjoyed it thoroughly, and I can say that if you're a regular follower of Transformers, you should watch this movie, since this movie can never give the same effect at your home screen. My take 3.5/5.
