Its just the beginning of summer of 2016 and mercury here in Pollachi has already shot up to 40 degrees. Unable to bear the scorching heat, my sister's family at last decided to buy an AC and looked at me for a suggestion on a good residential AC unit for them. After some serious revisions of customer reviews, I got them TRANE TSY18DW3 1.5Tr, almost 10 days back.

Within 1 week, on a fine hot night, the AC unit stopped working and the interactive remote displayed outdoor unit error and to call customer support. On the very next day, I reached the dealer and he promised sending in a technician immediately. After a day of no service, I had to reach Customer support who again promised sending in a technician within 48 hours. We are now past their promised support time with no technician turned up this way, we are on our 5th disappointed day with this broke down AC. Counting for 6th day as tomorrow is Sunday.

With all fuming eyes of my sister's family members turned my way, I am now all worried if choosing TRANE was a wrong decision altogether. Still a thin hope shimmers for Monday. Will keep posted our experience with TRANE.!

4th April 2016:

Well, to my surprise, the technician turned up on Sunday. I had to praise this guy. He initially advised us to install the outdoor on the top floor. As we did not feel that would be safe as we thought children have access to top floor and to avoid any potential damage to the outdoor unit, we requested him to install it on the sunshade of our first floor window. Although he initially was not happy with our decision, he honored our request and installed it on the sunshade.

The same technician turned up this time and he checked the unit and said that the compressor gas has got drained. Although we had bought a V-Guard stabilizer along with the AC, we were informed that the cause was the voltage fluctuation and it would cost around 5000 to 6000 rupees to fill up gas back. There was fluctuating voltage at our place, but what keeps scratching the back of my head is our landlord who shares us his power connection has 4 AC units(LG, Carrier, cant remember other two) in his house and they never had any issues.!:(

The technician also suggested us installing the machine on the ground floor window sunshade as it is hard for him to check the machine from the first floor sunshade and it would require another length of copper pipe to cover the distance and that would cost Rs. 220 per feet.

Do we have any options? With all hands up we had to agree on all suggestions. All suggestions to whip up this Wednesday.

My sister's family members are now searching for me.!

To be continued.
