I wanted something not to involved or with all the gidget
and gadgets. I saw the SD 1600 player and was pleased with the price and bought
t and took it home.
The best part about this is I can hook it into my surround sound
system and quite easily. It has a single CD tray and great stereo
sound if you chose not to use a home theatre system.
This system is probably the best buy for the quality. I've researched
the Panasonic RV30, Hitachi DVP305U, Samsung DVD-611 and
the Sony DVP-S360. It came down to the Panasonic, Sony and
Toshiba. The place I bought my DVD player had all the brands
mentioned and the price range were anywhere between $150 - $280. My salesperson said that with all 5
brands that I was interested in, the Toshiba had the least in defective
returns in comparison to the others, and since DVD Players doesn't
have a true 'History' record in 'Reliability' due to being NEW to the
market. The Toshiba seems to have the least repairs.
The zoom feature is perfect for regular televisions. The sound, picture
and zoom feature are what I liked most about this product. 4 zoom
options are great if you have an older TV. I find that letterbox just
makes the picture a little too small.
Very comparable in terms of connections (component video, S-video,
coaxial digital) and (depending on who you ask) comparable in image
quality. The analog sound output is just fine.
For anyone thinking about getting a new DVD player, I strongly
recommend this machine.
