Wishing all of you very very Hap-p New Year 2006.
Bangalore or let me call it Benguluru as people from outside world should aware of :) is India's silicon valley. Tons of tourists used to come complete year, and prefer to visit nearby tourist places by tour operators. Now I do not know the preferred way to visit Mysore, Ooty, but would like to share the experience I had with ITDC operated tours. Guys, beware of using ITDC tour packages for Mysore & Ooty combination. If you take it, you will regret it later. ITDC is just ruining their name/Brand. The hotels they provide is so bad, I can not just explain. Think that you get into a room, and you start feel what a stinking room. Everything stinks inthe room, including blankets and toilet. Till Mysore is it Ok, but when you go to Ooty, the hotel is again same old story, not good at all. when the time comes to come back to bangalore from ooty, you wouldn't find the same old bus. You will get a new bus, in which, there may or may not any existing passengers. If no passengers, good, but if there are, then somebody will end up messing with the bus driver and conductor, since you wouldnt find any ITDC related person over there. You wouldn't get the same seats. But you need same number of seats. I went with kids (4 seats). Conductor allowed some passenger and gave one of mine seat to other passenger. He doesn't even gave him any ticket for it. Well, I ended with the mess. Non-tour related passenger were travelling in the bus, and you can not simply rely on them. But since they paid to the conductors, they wouldn't vacate your seat too. I decided to complain about this but thought, the complete system is corrupt and no body is going to take any actions. This event happened to me 2 years back and again happened to one of my friend's family. So guys, would like to share my grievances with all of you who opt for ITDC tour package to Mysore & Ooty together. Please dont get into mess and don't go by ITDC. It is worst. A person goes on vacation for fun, but once you get into ITDC, you end with mess. Returning journey from Ooty to bangalore is always painful. Think twice before taking ITDC tour.
