Modular Disaster
May 25, 2009 06:08 PM 8316 Views

With great hopes my wife and I decided to get a modular kitchen as we wanted something sleek, sophisticated and easy to use without the hassle of having work executed from a carpenter as we are both working. Unfortunately, inspire of paying almost Rs.2, 00, 000/- for boxes covering an area of about 10'x4'.

The work of installation has dragged over three months as the so called designers have no eye for detail and have failed to get all the shutters made, forget instaled in one go. the baskets have not been provided as per specifications and even those which  have been installed after much delay have not been installed correctly or are to be re-installed.

This has resulted in drilling multiple holes in the boxes damaging them. the shutters have not been made as per proper size and there are wide gaps inviting dust into the cupboard! what is the point of having cupboards then. Handles have been placed at wrong places on the shutters and have had to be removed as a result leaving ugly scars my american redwood shutters for which AG's bath and kitchen could not care a dam. I have spent about 6 sundays supervising the work from AG's carpenters who are uneducated and ready to damage my new tiles etc.

But AG's have never bothered to supervise the work themselves. I purchased a hob for Rs.12, 000/- through them and though they have recd. full payment of the same two months prior to the date of delivery, first they tried to pass off the hob which they removed their own display and sent wthout bothering to clean it and then they replaced it twice with such similiar hobs removed from displays of other shops.

Finally we had to go all the way the company godown and get one for ourselves ad Mr. Gupta of AG's said that he would have to incur too much expense sending it again. on the whole the workmanship is slipshod, the staff is illiterate, yet arrogant and rude, the designer- one Mr. Ravi is lazy, ill-mannered and has not once come with the compyerized plan or even a measuring tape on him. The billing is dishonest as we have paid for items hich they have not installed, rather they have made me install them after purchasing myself and also getting a carpenter to do it on my own. they are incapable of executing the work at one go and can only cary on piecemeal with you pointing out the lacunas and they having no sense of responsibility or perfectionism.
