How to check your car battery
Jul 06, 2017 07:54 PM 4759 Views

Keeping the battery in a healthy position should be everyone's concern, battery is the heart and soul of your car, So one should pay special attention to the car battery at the time of the servicing.  Since your car battery is used most during the cranking of the vehicle and for providing power to the accessories of the car, you should know how to check the health of your battery, so take a look on these methods that will tell you how to test your car battery in a easy way.

1) Use a hydrometer to check the specific gravity of the battery by dipping it in the battery electrolyte, the specific gravity tells the charging and discharging state of the battery. i.e, if the specific gravity is more then the battery is discharge and if specific gravity is less then battery is charged.

2)Using a simple battery tester, just hooking its end terminal to the battery end and set up a certain resistance value, now check the needle deflection of the voltmeter that will falls either on the red band or the green band. the green signal tells you that battery is chargeable and in good state.

3)This method is done if battery is half charged, by grounding the ignition so that engine does not start, and then try to crank the engine by the switch. now you go on test the voltage available by using the voltmeter, if voltage is less than 1.2v then its a indication that something is wrong with the battery.
