Its a fine balance between time and accuracy

I took CAT in 1998. I can vouch for the fact that CAT is tougher and a better test of skills than even L-SAT. Much must have changed since 98 but there are a coupla things that I could have changed about my test in hindsight.

## SECTIONAL CUTOFF - If you are given the choice of managing your own time amongst the various sections - RC,DI,VR and QA ... time yourself, it will get u nowhere to ace RC and verbal and then being left with not enough time to spend on the other sections. All colleges need good sectional cutoffs as well as an overall high percentile.

## GO PREPARED - It may sound incredulous but I must have spent close to 5 minutes sharpening my pencil(I just carried two - one for eating and one for coloring)...Those 5 minutes could have been the difference between Ahmedabad and Lucknow.

## Take as many practice tests as possible ... dont stop at 15 or 20, it gets boring and repetitive but believe me it will save you a lot of time just figuring out what to do with the question during the actual exam. As mentioned earlier the idea is to practice so much that 50% of the exam becomes right brain for you. You see the question and you now what the most likely answer would be.

## Dont ignore interview prep...Read up GK, Business trivia, statistical data(to throw some jargon and numbers during the GDs.), nothing hurts more than getting rejected at the last stage.

## Dont waste a single minute on any kind vocabulary preparation or Calculus.

## Dont bother going through any kind of preparatory book ...all you need is a set of 50 practice tests from IMS or BT or CL...

Thats all for now.... Will write more later
