Thoovanathumbikal-Oru Thiranottam. Review on Thoovanathumbikal Movie

Nobody has a single life in this world, live your life several times ! if I say this to this world, I have to run away from the face of this world. But its true .Thats why Pappettan's(padmarajan's) Thoovanathumbikal swept the billion hearts of malayalies. If it was a spirit for those people in that time, now Thoovanathumbikal turned to be a Wonder for this generation. Includes jayakrishnan, radha, Thangal and Intellectual Clara, every charectors are living in the heart of every malayalies till date. When two malayalies shares their view on RAIN, how can't they talk about Thoovanathumbikal. Director padmarajan beautifuly enchanted keralite's heart by portraying rain as a charector in Thoovanthumbikal.

Nobody in this world believe in coincidences deeply, Thats what pappettan might have faced the biggest challenge during the conversion of thoovanathumbikal into silver screen. However , this incomparable director incredibly convinced the audience about the twist of fate. Once we watch this traumatic faithfilled movie, we will come to know about the different phases and platforms of our life. Especially jayakrishnan's way , how he take his dicisions in life ! . Some sequences, he take the step himself in life, but in some other you can notice he is letting the way as it is. in short we can say "let the time decide" . I too agree that watching movie is a way of passing time or a medium of entertainment. However , there is something we can learn out of two or 2.30 hours in life .This movie is the best one for such sort of practices. Padmarajan, enriched of artistic emotions and skills , has taught us what faith stands for in life. All through the Movie , Audience will undergo this sort of sense. Making a movies for the sake of entertaintment is the untimate responsibility of a director, However adding the flavours of goodwill-sense for the farewell of society in his film to be there as a prime focus . This is what all pappettan did in all of his artistic creations. When you watch the last scene in this movie, There is no dialogue, its only a melodious background score. However director could easily convey his message to audience as " what you do, what you get"I mean to say, jayakrishnan's first open proposal was to radha not to clara. Clara was someone who incidently came into his life, She left a space in his heart and vaniched away. When radha passes a Beautyful smile to jayakrishnan , in last scene, he forgets everything in this world. Padmarajan has made this movie based on his own novel UDHAKAPOLA, which has different storyline with same charectors. Atleast from this we can understand how deeply rooted artistic mind this director has. Converting his own creation to another form in a different format , who take such sort of risk nowadays. When Thoovanathumbikal hit the theatre, all the college students were shocked of seeing new outlook of sharing romance, Especialy in thrissur where thoovanthumbkal had been picturised almost.

Now if we do the post-mortem of this movie, we will come to know about it's astonishing creative side and philosophicaly guided writton background. Thoovanathumbikal hit the theatre in 80s, where sound technology was not that much par to the global technologies in kerala. There is a scene , when Jayakrishnan drop radha in temple area (vadakkumnathan temple) after a chat with marraige registrar at Babu's residence. The way of placing sound of an ambassadar car while it arrive and depart is hairstandingly realistic. When you notice Lal's dubbing in this movie is well appreciable even though it is far different from thrissur colloquial speech, he did it up to the mark. Babu Namboodiri , another veteran actor had never delivered such a beautyful performnce in any other movie yet, than thoovanathumbikal ,i beleive. If some other word is in english which narrates the beauty of babu nambudiri's acting most ,i would have used that word for Babu ettan's representation of charector Thangal. He should have called as grandeur Actor of kerala.when we watch that film , another counter beauty part of the movies is it's Location. its not necessary to have beautyful location always, but it should be fit for that scene. Here where pappettan flagged is victory again.

This philosophicaly enriched movie, had raised numerous question in the heart of people, about relationships , steps of life. When you notice this film , all the eyes will be on charector jayakrishnan. But film had set its motion from the perspective of another charector called Rishi (played by ashokan) . Most of the scenes in this films

has rishis's presence. its not phisicaly rishi is present in every escene, but his opinions and suggestions are everywhere in Thoovanathumbikal. This way of treating a film had made director less reponsible for its story alignment. Thats how this movie has attained a genuine and distinct place in the history of Malayalam movies. It was simply a matter of virginity for Others, But for Jayakrishnan, it was something who protected himself for a long time in life. Why clara decided to drag herself into the field of flesh commodity? Why Thangal never and ever discussed about clara with jayakrishnan,even if this sort of cases is very familiar for him, why Rishi stopped jayakrishnan from going to meeting Clara? Why Radha fell in love with jayakrishnan after a re thought ? This all seems to be very silly and simple. But it a has a smell of

realism to ground . when we all look back once . You can see yourselves as rain or jayakrishnan. I mean either we will have to witness or we will have to be a part of it.

Even though we lost one of our pappettan, He had left us a handfull of creations to enjoy and learn. Among them Thoovanathumbikalstill sparkles like dictonary of scripts.

Lets bow our head down infront of this Director for presenting such a beautyful Movie for all malayalies for ever.
