I watched the movie because my sister suggested it to me but as it turned out. it wasn't that awesome, as she had exaggerated to me. The movie started off well and increased my expectations but by the time it was halfway through, the plot seemed forced.
Jim Carrey, who played the protagonist, acted well, as one would expect of him; however, it somehow seemed that the role didn't suit him. The story revolves around a guy named Sparrow, who had a terrible childhood.
But grew up to live a normal life with his wife, working as a dog catcher. The movie deals with his obsession with number 23 and the consequences of this obsession. His wife gifts him a book titled'Number 23' and as Sparrow reads the book he starts relating himself to the protagonist of the book, only to realize that the protagonist has actually murdered someone.
The story is somewhat similar to Shutter Island, as later the viewer finds outSPOILER that the book was written by Sparrow himself, mixed with his fantasies, and it was his confession. The plot twist was predictable, the events didn't seem natural and the only good thing about the movie was its theme and portrayal of paranoia. Watch it only if you're way too bored.
