I am a doctor myself, 1 of my close relative was admitted to The Mission Hospital, durgapur .The 60 yr lady with no - morbidity had cerebral haemorrhage but was concious and stable, the scan detected 30 ml of blood. Was admitted under Dr Gagan Kumar, he suggested surgery was not needed we cud try conservative , suddenly after 3 days he decided to operate in an emergency basis, well there was mild oedema before operation, but after operation she deteriorated and huge oedema in brain developed and a portion of brain herniated through the opening of the skull made by the surgeon, in this status the surgeon left the city for a week and that hospital didn't have a 2nd neuro-surgeon.
The patient was having infection she was treated with one of the costly antibiotic called meropenam, but afterwards I saw it was enlisted as resistant in the culture-sensitivity(CS) report. When they had done 5 CS , Na, k, cl -each of 28 days. Lipid profile , complete haemogram, kidney function test-15 times, Chest xray -12 times, CT scan-5 times. Why did they start such a antibiotic which is preserved to be given only when a culture sensitivity report state others as resistant.
We have consulted various senior neuro- surgeons afterwards every body strongly suggested there was no indication of operation and they would never operate on this patient. Ultimately the bill was 7.8 lakhs- medicine 2.51 lakhs I bet the list of medicine given was not given to her. Do not go by the world class look of web-site and hospital, They don't have efficient doctors.
