I am just back from watching the Guru and I must say I am thoroughly entertained.

If its one of those NRI crop of films then its outdone itself. The screen play is good with little or no overacting and unnecessary sequences. The humour too is in good taste and surprisingly they havent really raped the indian culture (if there is one).

Performances by the cast are very natural and its a fresh change from all the pretentious movies that have been cropping up of late.

It seems to address some real life situations and problems of NRI's at the same time does not dwell on it and moves on to create a very entertaining film.

We dont go to movie halls to learn the entire truth of NRI's in the US or the UK etc., but we go to be entertained. Isnt that what cinema is about? This film seems to have a great mix of both and in very proportioned quantities. which makes it very light viewing.

The language and some scenes would of course render this film unviewable to some strata of the indian Janata whos self inflicted, sometimes imagined and grossly over sensitised sense of morals it may hurt. So dont go and watch it with your grandparents.

There are one or two insignificant sound tracks but they do not spoil the continuity of the movie so whos complaining? Performances of Jimi, Heather and Marrisa tomei are excellent. Jimi's accent especially is great.

Extras in the form of Jimis friends have done a great supporting role and after the movie one cant help but feel that its a film that has been very well put together, because the story line is no great shakes, the sets arent earth shattering, the dialogues arent winners and one gets the feeling that the director suddenly decided to end the film, yet it seems to make a pleasant impact somewhere.

GOod going. Hoping to see more of such fare.
