This is a small poem I wrote for the book The Alchemist:-
Lone and forlorn trudged the warrior
Unruffled by the treacherous vagaries
Uncaring of the perils ahead
He walked along to a realm beyond.
Passersby gazed as he walked along
Wondering what hid beneath the outer façade
What indeed is the man within?
Is he, was he, the same, times before?
They thought, they pondered, as he walked along.
Long ago in a village forbidden
A light had shone as darkness veiled
A wind had blown, a wind of change
Lo what had happened, did people ask
Somewhere it was the birth of the warrior
Which brought joy and bask.
Jovial kids had their share of fun
They chirped and cheered as carefree souls
When they made merry he looked askance
He gazed at the stars and mulled
Hidden treasures it seems he culled.
Days heaped into months and
Months piled into years as he grew along
He learned things and he grasped nuances
As the world became his learning guide.
When the world moved with their daily lives
As people grappled with existence chores
He was thinking and growing within
Moments passing by molding him.
He wasn?t afraid to ask and question
Hearing to the voice within
To what it told and what it asked
It said things which none could have
And asked, what shook him to rave.
The answers led to further doubts
A trickle soon became a waterspout
An inflow of ideas, of truths uncovered
Life taught him what no book could have.
Along the way he met a light of intellect
Who pushed him and nudged him on
He would say look for the light and
Don?t you stop until you talk to the soul
The warrior was asked to recollect
Jostled to think and to act.
He traveled far and wide
Leaving his trail as he walked along
He found love and money as he moved along
Men of fiber enriched his soul
Men in need drew strength from him
But none could put a brake in his flight
A journey that he had long begun
Uncaring of the perils ahead
He walked along to a realm beyond
A realm of charm and wealth
A realm with path strewn with thorn
Uncaring unmoved walked the warrior along
Conquering bounds both within without
Inspiring and calling men to shake off
To walk alone and tread along?.
P.S. I am trying something different with the book review on this one, do let me know how you liked it, feel free to shower praise if I so deserve and dont hold back if you want to criticise it, your views would help me do better.
