Tezz is definitely one of the worst movies of the year along with Rowdy Rathore. A movie which gets nearly everything wrong. By nearly one means 1-2 action sequences especially the chase sequence of Sameera Reddy are alright. Rest is a pure mishmash of all wronged Hollywood films with zero plot development and no sense in the story. One wonders how a director like PriyaDarshan who gives us such fabulous entertainers like Bhool BHullaiya, Hera Pheri, Virasat, Gardish, Kancheevaram etc.
The idiotic story goes somewhat like this. Ajay Devgan has been deported(rightly) back to India from UK along with his staff. They rerurn to take revenge and plant such a bomb in a speeding train which will explode if the speed reduces. A retired police officer Anil Kapoor is called back on duty to investigate the case and save the people in the train. One of the police Officers Mohanlal is on the train. Railways security officer is played by Boman Irani. The rest of the film is about how the culprits are caught and the people in the train are saved.
Even with a silly story, Priyadarshan could have crafted an entertaining thriller like Ghajini, Wanted etc. But the movie moves at a snails pace and the characters themselves do not know what they are upto in the movie. The screenplay is so unintentionally funny that it will give competition to like of Gunda, Loha etc. The less said about the performances the better. Ajay and Anil(both otherwise fine actors) act as if they weren't paid enough for the movie and they are doing the film just as a favour for their friendship with Priyadarshan. Zayed and Sameera give dull performances like always. Only Boman manages to salvage the film to some extent by creating some tension in his scenes.
The music is lacklustre and the background score is ineffective for an action thriller. The songs have been picturised badly. But the movie is so bad that the songs come as a relief in the movie.
The action scenes are average and shoddy.Only 1-2 chase scenes are good.
About 2 years back Priyadarshan had given a du named Aakrosh with Ajay. That movie had a good story but suffered from poor treatment. But Tezz is even worse than Aakrosh. Looks like PriyaDarshan only shares the best chemistry with his favorite actor Akshay Kumjar and he should get back to making mindless entertainers with him as soon as possible(though his last few movies with Akshay like DE dhana Dhan and Khatta Meetha with Akki also have flopped).
Overall, Tezz is a debacle from one of the most proficient filmmakers of our country. Not even worth a watch on television.
