Well.this is a very hard topic to write on but still very interesting.
I don't thnk I need to write about A.R.Rahman.but anyway.he was first introduced by Mani Ratnam in Roja in which ARR gave fantastic songs.then it continued.May Madham, Thiruda Thiruda, Bombay, Pudhiya Mugam, Minsara Kanavu, Duet etc etc.there are too many.And I'm giving my choices in any particular order.its just too hard for me.
These are my fav. 10 songs of ARR.all of you won't agree with me but its MHO.
Minnale.- May Madham
Many have this choice.extraordinary singing by the Evergreen S.P.Balasubramaniam. The orchestra is superb.especially the violin. No technology sounds. Simple beats. The chorus in the middle is very soothing.

Personally, I love this song a lot. My favourite is the flute in this song. This has a western or whatever you call it feeling.sung very nicely by Hariharan and the new find of ARR- Mahalakshmi. To me, Mahalakshmi sounds very much like Kavitha Krishnamurthy. This is one of Arr's another song which one does not have tech sounds and is very melodious. The guitar is the beginning of the song is excellent. Lyrics again written by Vairamuthu.

Rasathi./Chandralekha.-Thiruda Thiruda
Was totally confused which one to choose.I found both of these songs equally good.Rasathi is a superb piece by ARR.No instruments and only voices. It's sung by Shahul Hameed who has passed away.:(.The song has some great lyrics by Vairamuthu. I can't select any specific lines I like.
Chandralekha is another song which I ttly love.WOW! The song is grand with heavy beats and sung by Anupama who was intoduced by ARR with this song. I don't know whether anyone else other than ARR can produce this kinda music.
Kadhal Rojave.-Roja
This is another song which I don't get bored of.Roja was ARR's first movie and he did his best . Kadhal Rojave.sung by Spb again.
This song also has simple beats and is not complicated.the lyrics is outstanding and is written by Vairamuthu.and I don't know who is the lady singing in the background but it's very melodious. This song fits in the movie perfectly with beautiful cinematography.
Snegidhene.- Alai Payuthey
This is another masterpiece from the Maestro.sung by Sadhana Sargam. She has tried her best to pronounce the words correctly in this song and I think that she has done it well. The beginning of the song is simply mindblowing and is sung by Srinivas, I think. The song is extremely melodious.wow.I dunno how to describe the song properly. The instruments used are very simple.violins.guitars etc. since Sadhana has a strong Hindustani background.she has sung the song at ease.but Srinivas is wasted with a few lines. The lyrics AGAIN written by Vairamuthu is super. Pachai Nirame from the same movie is also a great song.but I somehow like this song more than Pachai Nirame.
Narumuagaye.-Iruvar
Well.ARR proved that he can give some carnatic songs also! I'm not trained classically so I don't know about the raagas etc etc.
Anyway, this song is sung by Unni Krishnan and Bombay Jayashree. They have sung it very well.(duh!.they r classical singers). Super instruments used, all are south Indian.violin, mridangam, flute, veenai etc.

Satrangi Re/Dil se re- Dil Se
This album is just too much for me.esp. these two songs.
Satrangi re- Sung by Sonu Nigam and Kavitha Krishnamurthy.wow.this song has a weird feeling and thats what I like about it.the guitar part is too good. Since I'm a Tamilian I cant really explain the https://lyrics.Sonu Nigam has put his whole soul into this song and Kavitha has given extra effect to the song. The song is quite long.bout 7 minutes.
Dil se re- .Sung by ARR and he has also sung it exceedingly well.the beats are great.Anuradha Sriram has sung few lines in the background and is ttly cool. Arr has done an excellent job in the high pitches. The part from 4.00 mins to 4.43 is excellent.with cool guitar sounds etc etc.i can go on bragging.
Fanah!- Aayitha Ezhuthu
One of the recent songs from ARR and is sung by himself again.I don't thnk many of you will agree with me.but personally I love this song a lot. This is a typical Rahman song with excellent beats. The chorus is done by Sunitha Sarathy and Shalini Singh.the'thoduvoam thodarvoam padarvoam maravoam thurvoam' part is superb.the lyrics by Vairamuthu is weird.that's because I can't understand the lyrics at all.:(
The best part of the whole song is the'sa pa ma pa' done by Arr.its not easy but he has done his best.
Anjali Anjali- Duet
Was agn confused between this one and En kadhale but chose this in the end.
This is one of the best songs of Arr with great Sax by Kadri Gopalnath. The song is sung by Spb and Chitra and asusual both have sung is splendidly. Chitra's sweet voice suits the song very well. The beats are very simple and clear, the flute throughout the song is cool and the lyrics written by Vairamuthu is very easy to understand unlike Fanah and it stands out.
Mustafa Mustafa- Kadhal Desam
I'm very sorry guys.I'm sure that none of you will agree with me.:(
But I again just feel that no one else can give this kind of music.It's again sung by our Arr and is very causal. The beats are ttly cool and my fav is the guitar used in the song. Throughout the song you can hear guitar sounds. The song is about friendship and the lyrics is fantastic.the chorus is superb, singing'ooo yeaa friendship.'. I also enjoyed the video of this song.taken in college class rooms and Vineeth&Abbas dancing to the beats.
