I am writing this review after driving my Safari for 37000 km in 1.9 years.
I have driven the vehicle in hills, Plains almost everywhere and the engine is so powerful that it takes any kind of terrain. I have got 3 services done but always used Synthetic Engine Oil(although it costs more than double Rs. 400/ltr vs Rs. 1100/ltr) and had not a single instance where this vehicle gave me any problem. So only 3 visits to the Service station for 3 services(5k, 15k, 30k). The avg cost of service is approx 4k to 5k excl Engine oil cost which is almost similar to a small /medium sized car(incidentally my Accent service costs the same incl Engien oil)
On the sturdiness of the vehicle I can bet with anyone. Once a highspeed wagonR came and hit me and hurt itself in the front with everything from bonnet to radiator, front lights and whtever you can think of got smashed and I was scratchless with the side foot board protecting the entire body. My expense was only Rs. 200 to replace the borken alloy wheel cover.
It has been consistently giving me 13kmpl with caution to get diesel filled from decent looking Petrol pumps.
The best Part - Pearl Whitel color with fancy light on the top ensures that all the Toll Plazas in UP/Bihar allow you FREE Passage considering the vehicle as a strict VIP vehicle with a complimentary Salute.unlike a scorpio which is stopped to check papers - Taxi.
The only thing I miss is third row of captain seats
Being a SUV lover am gonna soon move to my mext SUV(i change my car generally in two years .i get bored).so lets see what comes next.
All aspirers this is a MUST buy vehicle if you are looking for a low maintenance and good mileage sturdy SUV
Today 8th Oct, appending my review/experience after test driving Mahindra XUV 500, I feel satisfied that I didnt sell off my safari and booked Mahindra XUV 500 before test driving. Mahindra XUV is great on looks but after test driving today I could feel that my safari is much better, resaons.well you need to convince yourself but notice this when you test drive
Roof height is much lower so if you happen to be taller than your head is going to touch the roof of Mahindra XUV 500
The engine noise is similar or slightly lower than Tata Safari.i suppose scorpio is much lower than both the vehicles
The stability of the vehicle i.e body roll etc is better than scorpio but more than tata safari.so I think safari owners are not going to find any value in mahindra xuv 500.
This is the WORST part. - the plastics of Mahindra XUV 500 are like chinese, the central console is very soft i.e. the quality is real low and it moves enen if you put your hand on top of it .so if you are a heavy guy then I am sure this will get uprooted in two months or so.
No space for storage. -If you are travelling with 7 persons i.e four adults and two children then you end up with no storage space.and this is the worst part for atleast those ppl who want to travel with their parents.so attach a carrier and keep all luggage on the roof. .strange.so much of research going in the vehicle and the result Disappointing.
Stability - the body roll /unstable behaviour of mahindra vehicles is famous and this vehicle has been improved but still it is not matching Safari.
so I am going to continue with my safari for some more time.its 1. 9 yrs old.and thank god I didnt sell off my safari.and even I sell off then I am gonna buy a Endeavour or Captiva.
but guys check out yourself .and get satisfied.
