First of all, many thanks to https://mouthshut.com for adding this vehicle on my request.. I've been looking for reviews on this vehicle since a long time now (Almost 4 months)..

My love with sports trucks started last year, when I drove a friends Ford Ranger. I just loved the feel of sitting high in the truck and having control over it.. I longed for an Indian version of the truck and thanks to Tata we now have an option in the Tata 207 DI.

The 3.0Litre 407 engine is in a class of its own and easy to maintain since the parts are easily available and also any roadside mechanic can repair the vehicle incase of a breakdown. Of-course this is not to say that tata's service network is not well equipped..

The ground clearance is the highest in its class.. and the crew-cab can easily accomodate upto 6 passengers including the driver.. Although the headroom for the rear-seat passenger is a bit less.. But, the space within the vehicle is enormous.. The vehicle gets total respect from auto-rickshaws and the two-wheelers as well as the small cars in city traffic and they keep out of its way literally..

On the highways, you are the king of the road... The vehicle absolutely cruises in the 5th gear... The power Steering makes this wonder-beast easy to maneuver on the highways as well as in the city traffic... The beast gets a commendable mileage of 12kmpl... Considering the powerful engine and the cost of diesel, I think mileage is an affordable proportion...

Afterall the marutis and the santros cost much more in terms of fuel per mileage.. I am not sure if it is possible to down-tune the engine for better mileage.. but, for MUVs like this one it would be great to have a switch somewhere which can optimise mileage and performance making it a true all-purpose vehicle..

The beast gets a bit noisy on low gears but that is to be expected considering the 407 engine.. On the highways the bull runs peacefully..

Also, be careful while taking sharp turns at high speeds with this vehicle, the rear-wheel drive, pounded by a powerful engine does not make things easy for the vehicle to be thrown around the road.. But I guess that should be the case with all rear-wheel drive vehicles... A 4x4 options shows its usage here...

The vehicle looks gorgeous with funky strut bars with fog-lights and Front Impact bar with fog lights.. Add the broad michelin tyres to the vehicle and you have a winner on the road.

On the flip side, the vehicle has no AC, no accessories from the manufacturer, No Addons, etc. Anybody who buys the above vehicle has to do the extra work on his own...Not available in a 4x4 version...

Tata is exporting this vehicle as TATA TELCOLINE in other countries. The models in India do not have the same fit and finish as the export vehicles from tata... Visit the following url to see what I mean... https://tatasales.com/tata_GB_en/static/node10848.html

As of now, the vehicles in India are only meant for traders, agencies and small transporters.. But I would be delighted to own one for a family purpose.. Also, Tata's should consider making it a fuel efficient vehicle and come up with alternate fuel options such as CNG, etc.

I am a new wannabe auto writer, Please feel free to drop in a line or two as to how I am doing so far..
