After a very long time, a good bollywood movie. Siddharth Anand has finally come of age. Ladies & Gentlemen, Yashraj Films has created a winner. Definitely worth a watch.

It’s been 3 and a half months since I’ve landed in dubai, and the only entertainment for me is watching movies. I’ve sat through them all. Biggest regrets were Namastey London and Shakalaka Boom Boom while the most enjoyable were Ghostrider and 300.

My loyalties were beginning to tilt towards Hollywood. But finally, I get to see a good Hindi movie in the UAE. Saif is a delight to watch and Rani is an absolute natural on the screen. She makes you swing from one emotion to another with her. Shruti Seth looks very cute, and is definitely large screen material. I don’t see her continuing as a VJ for too long after directors notice this effort. Javed Jaffrey’s role is tolerable compared to the insanity that was salaam namaste. Incidentally, that was also Siddharth’s last movie.

I guess he’s cracked this movie on all counts. The music is brilliant. Very hatke, very contemporary and completely enjoyable. The animation of the title track is totally adorable with those little bears jumping along with the star cast.

The guys at the Yashraj camp are all total professionals, very international in their approach to filmmaking. All of them young, full of fire.

Vaibhavi merchant(choreo), Shreya Ghoshal(who used to be my college mate), Subramaniam(sound), Binod Pradhan(photographer), Pritam(music) all of them are the new generation of the glam world. Subramaniam sure gives a run for Dwarak Varier’s money(sound engineer of the RGV camp). After movies like this,  After movies like this, Dhoom 1 & 2 and so many others, I get a feeling this camp is really creating a good scene for bollywood. With RGV’s camp and the Bhatt camp also doing well with their respective teams, I think things are starting to look up. I really hope I’m right, for the sake of Indian cinema.

I don’t want to reveal anything from the movie, coz I think it’s a definite must watch. The emotion is real, there is very little hamming(which is a huge improvement for any bollywood movie, coz we can’t keep totally away from it now, can we?) and lots of entertainment.

So put on your seat belts guys, you’re gonna go on a real fun ride. Enjoy! And let me know what you make of this flick. Ta Ra Rum Pum, all of you.
