Saravana Bhavan has been a house hold name for generations in Chennai. When it came to eating out, I am sure; most of the chennaites think Saravana in the first 3 choices. They have been well known for the quality, taste and hygiene. They were the kings of Vegetarian hotels in Chennai. They still are, trust me! I must say cheers to them when they did it again. This time, by stunning the entire food industry in Chennai by coming up with a novel idea of taking the diners to a feel of luxury and elite by treating them like kings and queens of the new Era. That’s exactly what they did when they opened SWATHI at Peters Road, Royapetta a couple of years back.
There is no other place in Chennai where you will be ushered with such warmth. The friendliest face of a door man with that ornate turban of his and a well practiced bow is enough to make you feel the float. As you enter the dine, you cannot help that wow which slips out of your lips. Of course, you want to look like you have seen this many times. But hey guys, whom are you kidding? First thing you will notice as you enter is the cool air which is set perfect. Any one who lives in Chennai ought to appreciate any kind of air-conditioning, leave alone perfect. The interiors are so well done, complete with all those comfy elaborate chairs and tables just set at a height just right. Then comes the real master touch. Every thing on the table is in solid SILVER. Ever seen any other place who serves you on Silver? Oh boy! I must say this is absolutely great. What they serve is even better! Simply delicious! That’s what I would say! Another welcome surprise is every single bearer speaks English pretty well. Now you will agree, this is pretty hard to see in places other than those with all stars on them. They are all well trained, dressed with good taste and simply dabbed in manners. I am sure you are already waiting to see this place. For those who have seen it already, I am sure they agree with me on this. And for those unfortunate, so far, get there right now and tell me what you think. Just walk in to feel the gem of Saravana Tradition. Be the King and Queen for the day. And hey, one piece of advice, as any good restaurants in Chennai, you will have to wait for a table at peak times. Not only on Sundays, every single day of the week, it’s difficult to get a table with out a wait. Especially so at lunch time. So, don’t forget to tell me what you think of this place after calling on them. Till then, Bon Appetite!
