Bell the CAT (MBA ;-)
Sep 15, 2006 05:26 PM 6684 Views

Oops for a goof up! This review was intended to go in CAT category

Well its the time of the season, when  MBA exams are around and the CAT being the most prestigious one; since someone requested a review for success in the CAT, I thought to write one.

Personally speaking I had two unsuccessful attempts at the CAT, but I learnt quite a lot more from my failures. Here are the Guru mantras:

  1. CAT is quite a easy exam, only thing you lack in the exam is the time. If you have excellent time management skills, you can conquer the CAT, with a breeze.

  2. Improve you reading abilities and on a variety of subjects including business, sports, fictions, literature , science etc. It is a bit easier to  solve the topic/problem if you some background about it. So varied reading really helps.

  3. Make sure that you are sound in Maths/Analytical skills. If your are from science background, its probably easier for you, but for non-scince grads a bit more hard work is required.

  4. Coaching....? I dont know how much they help because I never joined one, but you  might want to join short term training (~6mth). I would personally advise that you don’t opt for a long term coaching that are for 2-3 years. I have seen guys joining the coaching from the very first year; believe me, all you are going to  gain is loss of your 2-3 years. Over a period of time you get bored of the subjects and topics get out of your memory, so moral of the story is:

"less ’ratana’/memorizing, less confusion"

  1. Give a shot to various mock papers/exams esp. analytical/mathematical aptitudes and judge yourself where do you stand and how much you need to devote.

  2. And last but not the least, not get disheartened, there’s always a next time and do not forget that it is one of the most toughest exam across the world ; and not evreyone is born perfect.

Best of luck, for the CAT.

Cheers!
