I had been a regular at Subhiksha store located at Vasant Kunj for the past 4-5 months. Being working professionals one gets very little time to analyze the bill item-by-item and check the veracity of the proclaimed savings and the free items that are on offer. So till now the franchise of Subhiksha (run by Mr. Sandeep Choudhry- also a resident of Vasant Kunj D6  ) and my family had a mutual trust relationship. However, on the 1st of June 2007 the bill amount seemed to be a bit escalated to me and my fiance'.


Reaching home and having the advantage of a weekend ahead, we checked the item price quoted on the products viz-a-vis the bill. To our surprise the MP of Sundrop Oil was Rs.320 was marked at Rs.403 on the bill. Also the free gift list read 1 kg SUBHIKSHA BASMATI Rice and 1 Kg SUBHIKSHA Sugar which were both not given to us.


It being post 9 PM we decided not to call then. However the next day I caled up the much publicised SUBHIKSHA  customer care/home delivery number 60607777. The person there was very helpful and confirmed that a mistake has occurred, after confirming the transaction with my Bill details and Subhiksha Card that I have.


I was asked to go to the store and claim the excess amount I have paid along with the free gifts. We went to the Subhiksha store in the evening at 8 PM. The franchise owner Mr.Sandeep Chaudhry at first refused to hear to the complain as he said he will tackle this only after the customers and gone. At that point there were good 20-30 people waiting in the line and we had laready waited for our turn in the same line. I referred to the customer care to which he said that he has ot received any call form them.


After we showed him the bill he showed us the system and said in a VERY RUDE AND LOUD tone that "It is impossible that we have Sundrop 5 lt oil at 320 rate". In front of the entire lot of customers he spoke in a very insulting tone to me and my fiance' and said that we should have brought the product along as we are mistaken. I told him that the cusstomer care executive specifically verified my claim and refused the need for carrying the product along with me. He took the bill from us and then it was excahnging hands till the point we had to ask for it in a rather assertive tone. It was apparent that they wanted to keep the bill. After this Mr Choudhry said that we should go back fetch the product get it verified and then take the extra amount paid. He simply refused to acknowledge the free gifts that they never gave us. We refused to do uch rounds as it was NOT our mistake. At this he started speaking a a decible loud enough to be qualified as screaming. We had to repeatedly ask him to lower his voice and stop the insulting gesticulations! After much verbal exchanges with him he agreed to send someone to our home for verification. We waited for a good 1 hour for till that person arrived. He verified the bill with the product and started apologising. Then we called up Mr Choudhry again. Mr Choudhry still DID NOT offer any apology and asked us to come and collect the Rs.110 that was paid extra and the free gifts. We refused to that. We waited for 2 hours then before Mr. Choudhry came in his car and sent the worker to give us the amount. When we walked up to him he started talking in a beserk manner again and never in the whole conversation apologised :

  2. for making us wait for 3 hours all together




  3. for the was he insulted us in front of the store staff, the customers etc.






Standing in front of our flat he kept on yelling stating "I own 6 cars" - how that affects or justifies his behaviour and his staff's mistke is incomprehensible to us.


I want to sue Mr.Choudhary and ensure that his franchise right for SUBHIKSHA  are nullified.


I have already initiated the process but through this valuable resource of Mouthshut.com I wanted to ensure that fellow customers are cautious of their dealings with SUBHIKSHA.


You never know if the billing is right or not and the free gifts are being communicated to to or not.
