Study Overseas Global is a counseling center for students who aspire to go abroad for higher studies. It is very famous and has three different branches at Churchgate, Vile Parle and Vashi. I have personally been the the Churchgate branch, while I was considering my options for higher studies. Before going there, I spoke to one of their coordinators who asked me to carry my documents and visit her the next day.
When I reached there, it was nearly afternoon and the counselor asked if I could wait until she is done with lunch. So, I agreed. After a good 30minutes of waiting, she called and attended me in a on-to-one session. I explained that I am preparing to attempt GRE and then try for a PhD in USA or Canada by applying for a full paid scholarship. She didn't really take a look at my marksheets but made it very clear that I need to have at least two-thirds of the entire amount before thinking of studying abroad.
Then she recommended that instead of PhD, I should opt for an MBA course by attempting the IELTS exams, and classes for the same are conducted at their center. It is not important to attend the class, but have to pay for the course and then they have contacts with certain universities in Canada. Getting an admission would be very simple out there. However, on repeated mentions of scholarship, she chose to ignore. Also the colleges that she spoke about are barely known to people. So I finally came to realize that this wasn't really a counseling center but marketing strategy where coordinators most likely misguide students and make profit out of the course money.
