I probably first listened to Steven back in school. This guitar strumming, cool Christian artist is still around and what more... still topping Music charts all over the place! What has kept Steven going strong is a distinct brand of sound that also incorporates new music to create a brand of music that is typically Steven and yet keeping pace with the times. Another thing that hasn't changed is the message. With so many Christian artists crossing over and diluting the message, you can be assured that Steven is all Christian!

Steven is a great songwriter and singer. His guitar playing is characteristic and has a great sound.

Most of Steven's song are deep in meaning and have the acoustic guitar sound. His live performances are a mix of raw power and quiet intimate worship. You have to see the crowd moving in Dive!

My favorite album is the Grammy winning Speechless and the favorite song is Dive.

Steven also works with other artists. Geoff Moore in particular is a close friend.

An avid reader, Chapman has also absorbed books by classic authors including AW. Tozer and Corrie Ten Boom. Contemporary writers Chapman admires include Phillip Yancey, David McCullough, Mike Yaconelli and Brennan Manning. 'Manning's book, Papa's Child also deeply affected me while writing for this album. I'm so astonished at God's love, and I want to be captured by It and invite others into that process with me.'

Another major influence on Speechless was Steven's pastor and friend, Scotty Smith. The songs 'Speechless,' 'Dive,' and 'The Change' were all inspired from sermons preached at Christ Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee. In fact, Steven and Scotty have just completed work on a book titled Speechless: In Awe of the Power of God's Disruntive Grace which will release on Zondervan in June.
