I have an NRE account with this bank since the last 15 years with the BHAYANDER WEST BRANCH, so I think what I write now, can be taken into consideration before one thinks of banking with these people.
Okay, No doubt the bank is doing well in the financial field, so what? They don't know the meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE. The earliest response that I got on complaining by email to the head office was after 22 days, ( Now all this for me being an NRE Customer with them since 15 years), so one can understand where you stand if you are a local person.
For a simple thing like a passbook update, or a cash transaction, you stand in the queue for nothing less than 30 minutes.
I have NEVER seen the branch manager, ever in his cabin. I don't know why they call him BRANCH MANAGER, they must call him COLLECTION MANAGER, because he seems to be always out for recovery.
For a basic Debit card issuance, the process is hectic, then comes the card, if by any chance, no one is home, the card goes back to Bangalore, then you wait for a few days to get the pin, which is stacked up in a pile of papers, and then you search a big register for your name, to sign the acknowledgement for receipt of the same.
I deposited a cheque of a huge sum, on Monday in the branch, and till Friday evening, no one had a clue where the cheque was? and imagine, I was flying off to another country next day, and the money was not in my account.
The customer service don't know anything, the head office forwards things to the branch, the branch is reluctant to give you a proper answer.
It Seems that they are working for free, or rather they are doing a favour by letting you have an account with them.
The Internet Banking is okay, but to get it activated, every time you have to rush to the bank and they ask you to fill up some form. They don't value your time.
And yes, They will never pick up the landline phone, I can bet a thousand bucks on this.
Okay, so why do I have an account with them till now, because considering the vulnerability of Private Banks these days, I thought it was safe to keep my money in a nationalised bank. But the price I paid for my insecurity has always been very heavy.
Now on I will only use to remit my salary to India, using this bank, and that's it, or maybe I will shift to some other bank very soon.
It is because of people like these, that people opt for Private Banks.
