Last Saturday (2 June 11) I reached Spice PVR noida with my wife to watch Delhi Belly - the first show of the day - 15 min before the start time (10.00 am). I had booked the tickets online and was to collect the paper tickets from their counter.
But when I reached there I saw a riot-like atmosphere. There was a huge crowd at the counters and the entry gate. The crowd was unruly and people were fighting with each other to reach the counter first. Both women and men were in the same queues (read mesh) - and many miscreants were taking advantage of the situation. I also became a part of the crowd and managed to get the paper tickets in 30 minutes! Thereafter it took me another 10 min in a queue to clear the security checking (there was only one entry). When I could manage to reach inside 40 min of the movie was already over. Strangely, nobody was protesting. I wanted to meet the manager - either for a refund of my money or to restart the movie. First, a soft-spoken guy - Amit - showed their inability to help.
Then came a tall, dark, stout, arrogant man - who claimed himself to be the manager - and started shouting at me (perhaps he was Mr. Shah). When I tried to make him understand that it is a clear case of mismanagement and lack of crowd control measures he started pulling me by holding my hands and asked me to move out of the movie hall. He then threatened me that he has good connections with police and would lodge a false FIR against me and started searching for numbers in his mobile phone. I was astonished and shocked, what a good tactic. My wife was also there and was watching all this drama.
We also decided to talk to the police first, but then preferred to complain through a consumer forum or court - somehow I was not looking for a FIR vs FIR system which takes too long to settle in a court.
I decided to never watch a movie in Spice Noida again. For me Spice PVR Noida is a synonym for ill-management.
