I have been regularly visiting Spencer supermarket in Hyderabad ever since it has been established as my home is closer to the shop. Being a residet of Gandhi Nagr, it was a boon to the locals nearby to have access to such supermarket with lot of parking facilities and range of products. Spencer has received immediate flow of customers due to range of products other than groceries. Most of the supermarkets nearby were mostly stocked wih provisions, spencer was different. Comfort levels, ambience and display were ecellent as they were all on single floor with single entry and exit point located conveniently. Temperature is controlled so that it is neither hot nor cold like many other. Parking space is something which has no parallel in any of the supermarkets in Hyderabad. Even in Big stores like lifestyle, central and BIg Bazars, parking is in underground not propoerly constructed leaving you with lot of hassle when you park as well as leave.
When comes to the stocks, spencer tried to optimise the floor space resulting in fewer range in consumer electronics, ready-made garments and crockery. If you want buy good cloths for oaccassions you may not like spencers. However lot of everyday use with low range is available the quality of which is less dependable. The Footwear shop is awful with local brands and duplicates not worhty of purchase. Toliteries, perfumes and beauty products have limited brands and choices. Ready to eat segments have many products that are not easily available in nearby areas. Vegetables are fresh for two days in a week probably when fresh stocks come in.
Lot of provisions are being slowly replaced with spencer own brand which is of very poor in quality and high in price. Keep away from spencer brands. If you go in the evenings 5-8 PM during first two weeks of the months you need to spend minimum 5-10 minutes in Billing counter as lot of prices are manually fed into the system. If you see discounts in Spencer which was once an attractive reason for shopping, dont get carried away most of them are going to expire within few days. Look at expiry date and buy. Freebies that come with products can be collected in one single counter.
If you spend on an averagge of Rs.2000 to 5, 000 on monthly provisions and if you live anywhere near to Musheerabad, Gandhi Nagar, RTC cross road you can visit to buy your goceries along with few other everyday needs.
