The reason for writing this review is that I depend a lot on the feedback given in different forums regarding any service or product that I choose. And I did check the reviews on this page before visiting Sparsh - some of them were very positive. I have to share my experience.
First impression - Gleaming top class interiors and ambiance. You get the feel of a top star hotel lobby, not a hospital. Efficient patient registration. Very modern and hi tech consultation rooms. Quite impressive.
What was not OK:
For a lobby that could accommodate 100 plus patients easily, hardly 7 or 8 were waiting. At 6.00 PM in the evening. Surprising.
The junior doctor who met us first was more interested in creating a show of great concern and sympathy to my aunt than checking the reports or even examining her. He wanted to convince her that her knees were beyond repair. Let alone the fact that she could walk without any assistance and could flex her knees despite the swelling and discomfort.
Poor coordination between departments. We had to wait for 1 hour for the Xray just because the Front Office took their own sweet time to send the slip to the XRay Dept.
We then met the Sr. Doc. Instant verdict - both her knees were gone and the only option was knee replacement. We told him that the referral orthopedician had suggested an arthroscopy to remove the fluid accumulated. But we were told it was useless. Knee replacement was the only alternative. Choice was ours to do it or let her suffer. And the rate card was given.
We decided to take another opinion since my aunt COULD WALK COMFORTABLY though she had some pain and discomfort and could manage all activities including cooking on her own.
We went to another renowned orthopedic surgeon with a modest clinic and huge crowd of patients. Waited for 1.5 hours. He examined my aunt, saw the reports and said yes, knees are worn out but not very bad, there was no need of any surgery. There was fluid retention which he removed in 10 mins and gave her an anti inflammatory shot. She is pretty comfortable now with the medication and is doing the exercises he suggested. And total treatment cost including consultation was less than 1k.
Go to Sparsh when your joints are beyond repair. Because they are excellent in replacing joints - they don't believe in treating or repairing joints.
