I visited Kolkata last year for a medical treatment of my paternal uncle. The city, also known as the City of Joy has many landmarks and locations that are a gem for the people’s visiting them. Like we all know about the marvel of the Howrah Bridge, the super astonishing Dakshineshwar Temple, Dum-Dum Airport, Eden Gardens, and it goes on. But the subject of my review is a mall, precisely South City Mall.
South City Mall is located in Anwar Shah road, Jadavpur, Kolkata. It is one of the largest malls of India and encompasses a wide range of showrooms in itself amongst other things. Me and my brother visited this mall and the experience is worth sharing. Few noticeable things in the mall are:
Inox Theatre – The mall which is otherwise a shelter of more than a hundred showrooms, also has an Inox theatre. The multiplex houses five large screens and is a major hangout for students from the Jadavpur college.
Food Court – Kolkata is known for its exotic dishes and the people of this city are extreme food lovers which has thus paved the way for numerous food joints and restaurants thoughout the city that serves the taste buds of the people residing here. South City Mall also has a food court. The food court is located to the top floor of the mall and deals with a wide range of fast food items that is a treat for the buds. We had tandoori chicken and Chola Batura at this court and it was delicious.
Café Coffee Day – A mall and there isn’t CCD is unthinkable. South City mall is no exception either and hence, there lies a CCD amongst various other food joints within the mall like Spencer’s Bakery, Cookie Man, Swirls Treat, etc. These places are always crowded to the maximum.
A vivid variety of famous brands – South City Mall has a vivid variety of famous stores and showrooms that are spread throughout the mall. The large mall showcases some very reknown names like Allen Solly, Spencers, Swarovski, Jack N Jones, Louise Phillipe, Arrow, Infinity, and the list goes on. These are among the few brands that have housed their showrooms in this mall. The establishment of such big names in one place makes it an ideal shopping destination especially during Puja times when these malls are crowded to the core.
Appearance – South City Mall stretches for an area of 650, 000 square feet and the place is treat for the eyes during the night. The splendidly lit lights, huge infrastructure with lavishly designed interiors make it a must visit for every shopping enthusiast and people visiting this city.
It is one of the best and largest mall in entire India and I recommend everyone to drop in by this place atleast once when you are in Kolkata.
