Feature packed mid range phone. Review on Sony Xperia P

Hii… I purchased this phone 2 year ago. This was my first android phone so had researched a lot about it. Basic requirement for me was that I wanted a phone which is not too big in size(screen size) since it becomes uncomfortable to handle with one hand. So I was looking for 4-4.5inch phone. After comparing it with other phones in the same price range, I finally decided to buy this phone

Some important Technical specifications are:

• 1GHZ dual core processor

• 1GB RAM

• 16GB storage(no memory card slot)

• 8 Megapixel Camera.

This phone falls in between xperia S and xperia U in price range and technical specification.  So people looking for a mid range phone should go with it. The camera is excellent in well lit areas. It even beats the other camera phones which are more expensive.

The Sony white Magic Technology provides immense brightness. The light sensors accurately gauge the light levels and displays with adequate brightness on screen. The sun glare has negligible effect on display and you can comfortably read the contents in conditions of strongest sun glare.

One important aspect while buying a phone is how sturdy your phone is?

The Screen is protected by Gorilla glass. I have dropped the phones quite a few times but thankfully the screen is unaffected.  The Gorilla glass also protects from moderate levels of scratches.

The phone looks really attractive because the design is completely different. For the first time Sony experimented with Transparent band at the bottom of phone which lights up. Honestly speaking, this feature really enthralled me and coaxed me into buying the phone. When you hold the phone you get a premium feeling unlike other phones in the same price bracket. The aluminium body offered in this price range is unbeatable.

When I bought the phone I had Ice cream sandwich as the OS but after a few months I got jellybean update which enhanced the usage experience. The jelly bean user interface was changed and I really liked it.

The sound output is the best in Sony. The earphones which I got with the Handset have advanced technologies like noise cancellation which makes the experience of listening to music nothing short of amazing. When u plug the cord in your ears, you can literally not hear any outside noise.

The advanced Bravia engine gives crystal clear display. So watching movies and videos make you feel your actually watching it on TV. I have watched many movies on this phone.

Voice quality is good. Mid range games work perfectly. High end games like Need for speed  may face lagging. The clear display on this phone enhances the gaming experience.

One thing I feel this phone lacks is insufficient memory. It provides 16GB storage space only. There is no memory card slot which makes the space limited. You will have to clear data frequently. I have to delete some old videos to make space for new applications I want to download. 32GB space would have solved the problem.

The only issue I face is that the battery capacity is too less. It is a meagre 1350mAh. Heavy usage requires charging twice a day. As time passes the battery gets weaker. The Bravia engine and white Magic display really consume a lot of power. This 4 inch phone should have had atleast 1500mAh battery. Another disadvantage the phone has is that the battery cannot be removed as the back panel is screwed. So only the Sony service centre guys can open it by unscrewing.

After using this phone for so long I have not faced any major issue which required going to service centre. It is still working fine. This is a good mid range phone for people who are not willing to spend too much money but still want a good quality phone with premium features. I would strongly recommend this phone to potential buyers who do not mind charging their phone twice a day, as it is packed with some awesome technology!
