''Progress lies not in enhancing what is, but in advancing toward what will be''

These words by Kahlil Gibran seem to be the guiding light for what Singapore is today- an epitome of civilisation.

Towering skyscrapers, beautiful roads, impressive public transport, trees lining the roads, well maintained

green cover... the list is endless. It is a tribute to man , and his capability to use his mind, muscle and power to build

a sophisticated city like this from a virtual jungle. Its a tribute to his capability to make advancements , and still

keeping in touch with the very basis of his being - nature. The fountainhead of all human development...

One of the most powerful economies in the world, mainly due to its bustling ports and tourism , Singapore , derives its coinage

from the Sanskrit word ''Singa-Pur'' which , directly translated from Sanskrit, means the abode of the lions. The dream

ride starts as soon as you land on Changi International , which has been aptly awarded the best airport in the world.

One of the huge airports of the world, this airport is a virtual city in itself, with all the facilities you need to stay.

After a smooth transit from the airport, this city invites you in its arms through a nice ride till the city centre.

The one thing that strikes you is the unmatched balance they have maintained between their green cover and the infrastructural

developments.

After a day of rest you are raring to go about in this country. This country offers a unique mix of many cultures, what with being a

beautiful combination of the oriental charm, the indian beauty and the western development. There are many places you can check out

here, the most famous of them being the island resort called sentosa.Taken into the island by a cable car, this place offers you

a wide variety of sites to check out. The dolphin show is the only show in the world where you can spot pink dolphins doing there

tricks. A must see for any dolphin lover. The underwater world is a treat to the eyes too, as you go through this passage in a

mammoth aquarium filled with a wide variety of aquatic fauna. If you like, you can even take a dive in that aquarium and mingle with

any of the fauna. You can relax for some time in one of sentosa's many beaches, get along a beach volleyball or sumthin. To top it all,

is the musical fountain show. man its unbelievable with the laser shows lighting up th sprinkling water. Interesting stuff.

As if a visit to Sentosa wasnt enough to boggle your senses, a free weekend calls for a walk down the famous River walk in the

heart of the city. One of the very romantic spots to go to if you are a couple, this place is lined with eating joints all along

the stretch of river crossing the heart of the city. As evening sets in,the breeze from the river soothens your mind, and the longing

for being with that someone special sets in.. : )

You can go on the ferry that takes you through the river stretch or take a nice li'il walk down the river.

The other attractions in Singapore include the East Coast Park , China Town , Little India(u can get into on of those nostalgic rides

if u have been missing home), Jurang Bird Park, the zoo, .... and countless otha things. It is kinda amazing that such a small country

can offer you such a large mix of things to see and do, that it has something for everybody... I can go on and on about the places,

but I guess I wud leave the rest for you guys to go and explore yerselves. Believe me , every penny you spend is worth it.

: )
