As the burgeoning aviation industry in India continues to grow in an uncontrolled manner, the onsumers and the passengers will always have a reason to smile. Low fares and price competion will always be leading to more first-time travellers. I was one of those first time travellers on air-deccan flight DN674 en-route from ahmedabad to hyderabad.
As excited I was for my first journey in an air-plane. Although I was a bit cautious due to the fact that the airline I was travelling was air-deccan. The flight was scheduled for 3:25 pm from ahmedabad for departure. As soon as I reached airport, on inquiring at the air-deccan counter, they told me that the flight was now rescheduled for 4:05 pm. I asked them about the problem and they said, that there were some technical problems at hyd airport and hence flight has started late from hyd. I had one of my friends coming from hyd to ahd on same flight. On asking him I came to know that the flight departed on time from hyd airport. Then what was this paucity for? After all the passengers had right to know the correct information.
After waiting for some more time the airline, there was no announcement and then again on inquiring, they said that the flight will now depart at 4:20. The telephone inquiry also was not matching the information. As at 4:30 pm it said that the flight departed at 4:26 pm where as the passengers were still stranded at the airport. As I was going for a non-business purpose, the thing didn't bother me much. But after all these things were not doing any good to the creditability of the airlines.
Finally the flight departd at 4.45 delayed by 1 hour 20 minutes without any good reason. The aircraft was good and clean and better than expected. The beverages and snacks are charged at a pretty higher rates. The quality certainly doesnt matcht the prices.
After the landing the baggages and everything else was handled very smoothly and quickly.
Hence only advice is that do not go for Air-deccan if you are on an important business trip, as aircrafts are never on scheduled time. But when going on a holiday one can always choose this as the ticket rates are very nominal as compared to other airlines. This true especially for niche sectors.
