I'm being forced to write this review. Because I want to do something to these bastards!
I am a hardcore internet user. I had been using Tata Indicom Wimax 384kbps connection all this while. The connection was good with consistent speed and a good support (never needed any support except 1 time). I had taken it for 5 months, and as it expired I thought of taking a new connection which was cheaper, because I couldn't afford Rs.1100 for a 384kbps connection. So I researched a bit (never opened Mouthshut which I regret now) and decided to go for Sify which had launched new Wimax connection in BTM. I looked at their plans was surprised to see they had cheaper plans. 512 kbps for Rs.999 or so, and 1 mbps for Rs.1480. So I decided to go for the 1 mbps connection. Gave them the money + 500 installation charge. Well, something funny, the guy who came to install asked me to pay Rs.600 extra, he said he had to use extra 25 cable. I smelled something fishy, called the Sify guy, he said I don't have to pay anything. See how people try to fool you. Not only Sify, everyone here in Bangalore. From Auto drivers to Broadband companies.
Ah, well so I got the connection installed. And everything was fine, the speed was good, around 120KBps download speed. However I did not like the idea of using Sify software to login to the internet and that only 2 computers can use the connection directly. After 2 or 3 days, problems began. The connection began to drop, or would be like a snail. Called their Customer Care, 1 guy came next day, did something to the antenna & said everything OK now. I checked & it was alright. But from the next day, same problem. Google.com took around 15 mins to load!!! Can you imagine? I called that guy again! He came again, changed the channel or something, & connection worked again. few days went by, & there was no problem. Then I noticed that, the connection got very slow at night time, ie after 10pm. It would be worse than a Dial-up connection. Called them again. Some other guy came in the evening, checked, everything was alright. I told him problem comes in the night. He said OK, he will check and went off. Called CC again, no response. Never came back again! Now my connection has expired! Wasted my hard earned 2000 bucks for this Sify bullshit! I called the customer care again with full anger, asked them to connect me with Supervisor. While talking to her, I lost my temper. I kinda went high. She said she would give compensation & gave me 1 week extra for no use! The connection was worse now!
People, trust me don't ever use this shit! Instead go for some reputed companies like Airtel Broadband, BSNL Broadband, Tata Wimax etc. Now I'm writing this review in my laptop using DOCOMO GPRS connection :-) Only Rs.48 per month. For this speed, I paid 2000 to Sify!
