Yeah, I know, his edgey voice often goes out of sync, and its very hard to call him even a good singer. But there is something about this man, that despite many evident flaws in his singing, I still fell like lending ear to his songs...
Born as one of the many siblings of the great comdian actor Mehmood, Maqsood Mehmood Aliaka Lucky Ali, has slowly made a ninche for himself in Indian Music Industry. After having a sucessful debut album 'Sunoh', 'Sifar' was his second pop album, and my personel fevorate out of Ali's work.
Here are some of the songs from the album :
This song has a beautiful video. Location : Circus - show's over - Ali comes sits in a chair and start playing guitar -
' Tan tan tan - te re ta ta ta - Tan tan tan...'
and the songs begins. A very melodious flow of above guitar notes with meaningful lyrics makes up a soulful number by Ali.
'De sakta hoon main thora pyar yaha par , jitni haesiyat hai meri',
'reh jau sab ke dil me pyar basa kar, ek aiesi neeyat hai meri '
Dekha Hai Aisi Bhi
Another soulful number with trademark Ali's music , a song with a message of spreading love all over the world. Backgroud arabic tunes and remote american locale picturization of video gives this song, a touch of blues..
'Dekha hai aisae bhi, kisi ko aisae hee,
hasate hasate yun sabko manaate hum jaaengae,
Baraso ki doori ko mil ke hum saath mitaengae...'
Ali's lyrics are quite unusual from regular 'Main tumse pyar karate hoon' types , and they give you a refreshing change, a much needed one too....
Teri Yaadein aati hai, Kuch batein aati hai.
'Dil mein talab hai , lab pe tarana,
kisi ki talaash mein yeh, guzare zamana.
kal kya khabar, do pal ka bahana ,
nahi tha yakeen - hum hue to ravaana.
Teri Yadein aatein hai, hain kuch batein aati hai...'
A simple song, with simple melody, very peppy number, easliy the best peppy number of the album. The song is nostalgic, remembering the past left behind. It flows like a river, and gives a very good feel to ears. One can get hooked to it as its easily humaable and very melodious.
'Anjani rahon mein' .
Tera yeh Aashiyana, mera bhi aashiyana,
Anjani rahon mein tu kya doondhata fire,
door jisko samajha, vo to paas hai tere...
A fantastic compsition, with meaningful lyrics, soothing notes, and nostalgic vidz, this is the one I like most...
Other songs in the album includes :
Baadalon ki gehari mein (title song)
Jheel ee jaise ( romantic)
Mausam ( a casual friends number with a fantastic guitar compostion)
Though its an old album (1997-98 I think), but any time you hear it, it gives you a feel good effect. Ali's album are alway a welcome relief, as both his singing and music are different from routine stuff that one hear every day.The best time to hear his songs are whie travelling, or with rains, clouds, breeze or with moon, starts, sky or with hmmmm, well, any other beautiful thing of life.....
Pyar karate idher , dil bicharate idher,
dastaan-e-sifar suno yahan...
yeh bhi honge khafa, kya pata, kya gila,
har gali mein mile koi naya,
musafir ko mile raasta, zamaane ko mile vaasta.....
