We were quite excited when we purchased this program. Not only did it have a huge collection of recipes and quick time videos of various techniques, one of it's selling features was the ability to create your own cookbooks by uploading your own recipes. What an idea! The procedure for uploading was fairly simple-although tedious, but we thought well worth the time. We had problems almost immediately using this program. I would enter a few recipes and the program would freeze and nothing would be saved. We contacted Sierra by email and received an auto-response acknowledgement immediately. We waited a week and re-emailed. Same auto-response. We tried their tech support phone numerous times and couldn't get through. After about a month we did get an email response and followed the suggestions they gave. We then uploaded more recipes and this time our whole system crashed and we had to re-install Windows!
We contacted them again and told them we wanted to return the software. They immediately answered that we couldn't because more than thirty days had passed since purchase. We then sent them via email and regular mail copies of all our emails proving that we had reported the problems within 2 days of purchase and the delays were theirs. We received our refund three months later.
This program may work well for others. We may have had some incompatibility that went unrecognized.(IBM PC, Windows 98,Pentium II) We were more upset by the attitude of Sierra towards customer service than the fact that we couldn't get Master Cook to work.
