The background of our purchase of this machine should be understood.We used a top loading washing machine before this one, hardly ever used it, it used to handle the cloths bad, had tears on the cloth too [at times], the washing was as poor as it could be.
we purchased this washing machine in 1998, completed about 11 years. The use of the machine in the 11 years was as well as it can be used, i.e. heavy useage, at least once a day. We had no servant to clean the cloths nor did we have to clean it ourselves. The cloths were as clean as possible, except for the ocassional cuff and colars, which needed special attention. The earlier machine was no comparision for this machine. This machine is sturdy, quite, absolutely no-nonsense machine, being fully automatic it is only too easy to use and understand. The glass cover/lid is good, no problems so far. The company seem to be making real energy efficient machines [heard the same abt their refrigrator too]
Now coming to the maintaince part we had to call in the mechanic twice, the first time, after about 7-8 years of use this was for huge viberation the machine underwent when being used, they changed its shock absorbers [abt Rs.800+ visit charge of Rs.300]. The viberation of the machine is back slightly, apparently the gasket needs to be changed [Rs.2000], which I am not sure I want to spent. The second time [few days back] was for the machine not draining itself, [Rs.2000 for the pump+ Rs.500 for visit]. I had read horror review of the service provided, though anticipated such service - I had a much better experience. The parts are expensive - may be even very expensive, but Rs.3000 [+800 visit] in 11 years is not bad, not bad at all, may be 5000 if you consider the gasket waiting to be changed considering the 7-8 years of absolute trouble free heavy use of the product.
Over all a very good machine, though I dont know how to react to the service experience in other semiens washining machines, I strongly reccomend this product [same model not available].
