Saurav Ganguly: a cup of garam garam masala tea!!! You might be wondering why I have connected these two completely unrelated and varying nouns. Saurav Ganguly, a world renowned cricketer, captain of the Indian cricket team, an idolistic family man...how could he possibly be related to a cup of Indian masala chai? Abhi bathathi hoon.

Ganguly is a cup of garam masala tea because he is/ he has:

Garam or hot : No, don't worry, I don't mean in looks, I mean on the cricket pitch. Although he may have his bad days (I mean who doesn't?), he spends a vast majority of time scoring tonnes of runs for India. A cup of chai can get cold but all we have to do is heat it up again to make it as hot as ever. So Ganguly just needs the right sort of stimulation to make him as garam as he ever was. But has he not done so well already? In the 47 Tests that he has been captain of the Indian cricket team, Ganguly averages 37.03, with four hundreds and 13 fifties. In his whole test career, he has scored 11 centuries and 25 half centuries. What else is there to say? What is there not to be proud of? People remember the short-term scores of 2, 3, 8 against Pakistan but do they not remember the centuries? Ganguly has saved India's neck many times and we must not forget this. He is also a very competent bowler, and a ferocious seamer who can move the ball both ways to get breakthrough wickets. So Ganguly is.....garam and steaming on the pitch...who will maintain his heat...we just have to have faith in this renowned cricketer!!!

Watery :Watery...what do I mean??? Well, Ganguly is a very emotional man. His family and fellow team members who he treats as family mean everything to him. He is utterly and fully devoted to his career, his cricket. Do we not remember the glimmers of tears, whenever India was close to losing a match?? Does that not speak for itself? Why should we drop a man from the cricket team, who is completely devoted to his job, and every lost match brings a tear to his eye. This explains that the loss of India means his loss and I don't mean economically. I mean in his heart, of which he has given a piece to cricket. So Saurav Ganguly: watery just like chai, and this emotion will give India many victories in the years to come!!!

The tea bag : The tea bag is the very essence of chai. Although the other ingredients are very important, chai would be nothing without the tea bag. Similarly, the essences of Saurav Ganguly are his captaincy skills. His other ingredients, including brilliant bowling and batting skills and great sportsmanship contribute a large part to why he is such a fabulous cricketer but his teabag, aka captaincy is his essence.

At the moment, Ganguly is just going through a bad phase but his captaincy has continuously remained superb. He motivates his players wonderfully, giving them full courage and his full support, enabling them to perform and I mean perform in all of their matches. He always tries his best, might make stupid mistakes but still does his best, and this sets a great examples to his team members. And btw, why are we talking this nonsense? The team is still doing great. We havent seen the team doing so good against anyone in the past. All of this makes Ganguly the best captain India has ever had and his captaincy is the tea bag for both himself and the Indian Cricket Team. Good naa????

Finally, Masala: The masala is an added bonus to the chai, it is like the icing on cake, the sprinkles on biscuits. Similarly, Ganguly has this masala which makes him a competent, dedicated, brilliant cricketer. His masala is his ability to always keep on trying. He is a cricketer who never gives up, his determination is really what stimulates him to become a great player. Just to prove my point; do we all not remember Dravid's scores in 14 successive innings in 1999/2000 and 2000/01. 1, 33, 12, 35, 6, 9, 14, 29, 0, 22, 37, 17, 18, 28. He should have been dropped, right? His next 9 scores? 41 not out, 200 not out, 70 not out, 162, 9, 39, 25, 180, 81. Point made? A winner isn't one who doesn't fail, it is one who doesn't give up. Saurav Ganguly may have failed a few times, but he never quit, giving him that extra masala and making him loved by many.

So, Saurav Ganguly, a cup of garam garam, masala chai!!!! With his batting brilliancy, his bowling bonuses, his captaincy capers and his daring determination, he really is one of the best players in the Indian Cricket Team. Everyone says we should give people a second chance. Lets start with someone who really deserves it...Saurav Ganguly. He should not be dropped from the cricket team, he should not be forced to resign as captain. We have to recognise his greatness and only with our support will he be able to show great victories...so lets give it!!!!

And besides, hasn't my garam masala review taught you something else??? Now everyone knows how to make chai!!!! ;)

Definitions for those who don't know: Chai-Tea, Garam-Hot
